Hi,

I have been gifted a working Marklin 74924 automatic crossing and would like to install it on my layout as per the attached image. However I am not sure that it will be possible, as I am very unsure as to how it could be wired so as to have the barriers close on any of the approach tracks. It works OK when power is applied.

I understand that the crossing position is not prototypical but it would fit in well at that position.

Would welcome advice and suggestions from more experienced members. I am using DCC and iTrain.

Many thanks

I take it you mean according to this instruction leaflet seeing you didn't manage to attach an image. The images on pages 20 onwards are reasonably self explanatory. If there is anything there that is not clear do ask.

Hi
Thanks for your post, not sure why the image didn't upload, have now done so.

I think I may have worked it out. Isolate the track at each end of the level crossing and let it have its own power feed. Have an action on any of the approach tracks to switch on the power to the crossing.

So you dont want to use contact tracks to trigger crossing action using the factory tracks (possibly w extensions). Instead you can use a m84 on/off decoder to power crossing, triggered by something, if driving digital.

Thanks Ben. That was what I was hoping to do.
