Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone from the forum is likely to be attending IMA days this year in September that would like to meet up? I’m travelling over for the event from New Zealand and if there’s anyone who would like to meet up I’ll be in Stuttgart from Thursday to Sunday 18-21 September 2025. Maybe we could share a drink and talk about all things trains!

Base camp for the Brits is likely to be Barfusser again, a modern brewpub and restaurant in the town centre, just North of the station. Come and say hello.

Hi Steve, some of the lads from the Wellington Marklin Club will be there but I'm not sure if any are forum members - maybe Nathan nhumps Offline will be there. I won't be going as things deteriorated financially for me last year when I lost my job.

I’m traveling from Norway and will be in Goeppingen Friday and Saturday. Would be fun to meet up with people from this forum. Also any tips or recommendations are welcome as this is my first trip to IMA. 😁

I had originally hoped to be going this year with some of the guys from our club, last time was 2019 when quite a large group of us went over.

I spent some time at the historical toys stand. which I really enjoyed and would love to see your museum.

Maybe next time but it will all depend on the finances. Looking forward to all the photos.

I might be able to make it to Göppingen this year for the Märklin Days and IMA after all.

Should we arrange some meetup again one day?

At least for the last few Märklin Days, the meetups have been 4:00pm, Saturday, on Platform 4 at the Göppingen train station (4@4).

Aunt Martha's favorite nephew will be there again - should be in Göppingen from Wednesday evening (17/9) till Monday (22/9) flying home from Stuttgart early evening.

As to "official" meets there is the Märklin Bar&Grill Email list "4@4" on Saturday - that is station platform 4 at 16:00 local time for a meet and group photo.

Also there is the dinner Saturday at GRAN DUCA, Lange Strasse 16, Göppingen, that one UK member - sorry forgot his name ( someone please pick up this info ) - has booked the previous (many) treffs - and I know that the Tiramisu is homemade and scarse - so quick order at arrival.

The Barfüsser Bier is in the same building as the (newer) RIKU hotel so easy to stumble back to your room.
;-)

Looking forward meeting you'all again.

Hello Folks,

Has anybody seen the official Märklin program for Märklin Tage next month ("Das Veranstaltungsprogramm mit Ausstellerverzeichnis) yet ?

That is, like this in 2023 :

UserPostedImage

I could not find it on the Märklin .de website (other than the "the train station program 2025" information and the earlier information release "The 14th Märklin Days")

I haven't seen it, but my 04/25 Insider magazine arrived yesterday (Thursday) with details of the wagons. The H0 wagon (48225) is yellow and lettered for Pschorr-Brau Munchen, as stored at the Bavarian Railroad Museum, Nordlingen, and the prototype wagon will be in the yard as well, so a photo opportunity to buy the model and photograph it with the prototype. The Z scale wagon (80924) is the same.

The "factory tour wagon" is an Fcs081 two axle open goods wagon 45525.

Don't know if the links will work just yet.

Thanks Alan.

The various cars are also detailed on the current Märklin.de site.

Numerous bits of information are spread around that site but I was hoping to find the official program as a single item with which to plan my visit to Märklin Tage next month.

Well, the ones I quoted are in the English version of the Marklin Magazine, not the Insider Magazine.

Hello again Auntie,

This is one for the Kiwis coming to IMA. A fellow Kiwi forum member wants to buy a loco from me and we were wondering if someone attending the IMA might be willing to transport same to NZ if I bring it to Göppingen.

Unfortunately no financial reward but huge thanks and beer!

Hi Adrian,
I think I can help out on this one… I’m currently on holiday in the Cotswold for the next week ( was in Kent last week but didn’t see this post in time) but will be attending IMA on the Friday and Saturday (19th and 20th September) before heading home. If the item isn’t a large one (given that a 6 week trip across the UK , one needs to be fully prepared!) then I might be able to accommodate.
Maybe send me a PM and we can take it from there.

In case you havent noticed :

the “special” car #48225 from
Pschorr beer company
( the official Treff car for 2025 )

was actually already produced
in the set #46203 from 2005

https://www.maerklin.de/...te/details/article/46203

the roof color might be different;
blue vs. grey

i’ll look forward seeing pictures
of the 1:1 wagon that presumably
will be part of the BEM train

Hi Auntie,

I think they said it will be on display at track 1 at Göppingen station, so you can take a photo of your model with the prototype.

See you there

Hello All,

I today attended this event in G¨öpingen. Quite frankly a disappointment. Not to mention the absolute absence of any language besides German. Of course over 90% of attendants are expected to be German, but an occasional wink to us non-German speaking fanatics would have been nice.

The overall opinion of mine is that Marklin and others were only interested in getting rid of excess stocks, not in their new products. A few examples I noticed:

1.- Marklin did not have available a single product announced for September, namely the DHG 500 loko in fictitious V61 DB livery, and sound digital effects. But loads of the same model but in Startup editions.
2.- The Diesel Railcar is only available in blue DB, not in red, and reduced 100 euros. Most certainly not an opportunity for Attendats, but a slow selling version.
3.- Roco had a small stand but only 4 3-Rail models ( 3 Eloks and 1 steam). A ton of other lokos in 2 rails DC. Not the place for that IMHO.
4.- Brawa has some nicely prized lokos but of very few models, obviously also those that are slow selling.
5.- ESU had interesting lokos. Their DHG500 which are top of the line, were out for 200 euros only. But limited to cash only purchases. Really? In 2025? ANd the nearest ATM was in town, so the whole process would have meant more than an hour I would have lost more than an hour bouncing around in a shuttle bus.
6.- Very little in serious second hand options by a few dealers who propose junk at steep prices.

Overall, IMHO, not what a trade fair should bring at all. If I compare it with my visit ti Friedichshaffen for the Ham Radio Fest ( another of my vices), the distance in courting the customer and visitor are very much obvious.

Just my 2 cents

"Cash only" is still more or less the rule in Germany and also in my country because merchants do not like to share their profits (or reduce their margins) with greedy credit card companies. Thus it is very wise to take along some cash when you are attending markets, fairs, and similar events here.

BTW, you have posted a more or less identical item in a separate section of the forum (see https://www.marklin-user...n-Goppingen#post686269). Perhaps a moderator would like to merge the two postings to avoid confusion?

Hi Jonas,

Not sure what you mean by 48991. This does not seem to be a Märklin product.
Did you mean 48016 (Hbbillns 305 sliding wall boxcar)
I have not seen such item at the Göppingen HBF

Regards,
PJ BigGrin

On page 7 (Technik erfahren) could believe it had been given a new freight car makeover for IMA.... like previous real stuff Habbiins.

On the first point, merchants get away with it because customers allow them to. It wouldn´t work in the US where I am from or in Spain where I live. To have to pay for something from the Manufacturer ( ESU), priced like a washing machine, in cash is, at least as far as I am concerned, a no no. German, Swiss or what not.

On the double post point, you are totally right. I apologize. I seem to get mixed up with the different BUTTONS. I certainly wasn´t trying to post the same text, much less sound like an opinionated old goat. I see, and welcome, that a moderator has taken the matter up and corrected it. My apologies again.

the MHI car 48991 - I was not in Göppingen - but I havent seen any photos / reports of THAT car being in scale 1:1 at the station
I doubt that it even exists in scale 1:1 but I might be wrong.

The other Treff car - the yellow PSCHORR - OTOG was at the station - and really good idea too.
Hope that BEM also makes some money out of it too.

As to the longer version type Habiins 12, Märklin really showed their "usual" incompetance at the Märklin Tage in 2011 regarding
the https://www.maerklin.de/...te/details/article/48058 where the 1:1 wagon was standing at the station in full view - by it self
- but there was no 48058 to be bought - the 48058 only appeared 1-2 months AFTER the Treff; talking about a missed opportunity
:-(

Märklin could have sold thousands if the had a stand next to the car at the platform - who wouldnt buy a H0 version of the car you saw.
So when the 48058 appeared in the shops 2 months later - it was just another Märklin car with an logo printed on it - kinda like the old-type #4517

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed - however I kinda had the feeling that this year was "downsized" so I opted out - travel and hotel
expenses didnt justify the trip

As to cash only - yeah thats germany for you (still) - "bares ist wares" - perhaps the tax-man considerations still lurkes somewhere ?

On the plus side - you can negotiate better if you pull out small bills and claim that is what you have ( in THAT pocket )
;-)

But what dealers dont realize is that the customer is more likely to buy - and buy at a higher price - if you just swipe the card.
If you are going to hand over precious tangible currency - you actually buy less.

I understand why small dealers opt out - but large companies shouldnt.

See ya'll hopefully in 2027 - the dates are already known :

42. Internationale Modellbahn- Ausstellung und 15. Märklin Tage 17. bis 19. September 2027

Thanks Christian,

Yes, they’re probably easy to sell, but the product idea is starting to get inflated, and it would have been fun if a rebranded original freight car had existed.

I also don’t think that this wagon 46418, which is apparently already sold out with delivery in Q4, has any real authentic object...

the 46418 is "MHI Regionalversammlung (Regionalmeeting) Sonderwagen" apparently from 2025 - only 999 produced
- so yes - most likely (hedging my bets) fictional - the only one that existed in 1:1 is the 48058

But now you can have a Märklin train with at least 3 different boxcars : 48058 - 48911 - 46418
;-)

yes, two reasons: Sharing data with credit and debit card companies AND tax.

Kind regards

At the IMA Marklin MHI group were launching a new web site to help people track down items that dealers still have in stock, but buyers are finding hard to source. It is called trains4me and allows you find items by catalogue number, or category, and see which dealers may still have stock. Unfortunately only in German, but a right click/translate works well so far.
