shay.jpegShay (Trix 25700) can't read the MFX on the CS3 and won't boot. Then I tried the American controller, the Prodigy Express, and it got the car started. Obviously, the American controller isn't as convenient and comes with some issues, but at least it gets it started. I've already updated the CS3 software to the latest version, but it still doesn't solve the problem.

You already have two Shay locos in the CS3. Do you have two of them? I would remove the Shay from the track and delete both and then reregister it.

The shay above is just because it can't read the mfx chip. I tried to add dcc address 3 29 function keys myself, and then added a latest shay picture. The final result is still invalid. Normally, Just put the car on the track and turn on the controller to start reading the chip. It's not that complicated. I don't know where the problem is. Does anyone have the same problem as me?

The message is that it is not finding a new mfx locomotive not that it is not finding any mfx locomotive. So possibly it has already registered the Shay. On the left side of the screen there is a locomotive with the description "Shay No 5 W M" Is that possibly the Shay with the incorrect picture? I would still delete the two Shays and perhaps even that one. Then reregister.

Hi Luke
You have at least these solutions:
- register your shay loco on another MFX controller (MS1 or MS2 with their own special track or track box, another CS2 or CS3 at a friend"s and then register your new loco on your programming track
- erase all shay records on your CS3 and then select "Find lost MFX Locos
It works best when the new loco is on the programming track

Is "DCC Lok 3" indicate that it is a locomotive registered with DCC address 3? If so it is possible that he has four registrations of the Shay.
According to the downloadable CS3plus manual registering a mfx locomotive can be done on either the layout or programming track.

Your second method solved my problem. After failing to read the mfx file the first time, I edited several shay files with the same name as the dcc file, which may have caused the mfx file to be unable to be found when I read it again. Thank you.
