Hi,
A few years ago I looked at a web site DON'T Click on it! (www.guidetozscale.com) My web security is having hissy fits over it now with false ads reports, fishing etc. Does anyone have a clean copy of it? The catenary section was very informative.
Thanks

Hello, hope all is well.

I have been searching around to see if I have that document. When I was looking into catenary myself, I noticed there seems to be very little posted information.

Apparently Guide to Zscale is offline at this time and their info is not available. No clue if this is a temporary or perhaps permanent.

I am not familiar with the catenary section on Guide to Zscale, but I know there is a section on catenary components on the Marklin Mini Club Track Planning Guide (0296)which was available a few years back. (This information might not be posted in more recent versions of this publication). I know this publication was discussed here in the forum when it was discovered at that time. Perhaps someone nearby to you has that publication and can provide it to you it is useful for many Z Scale topics. It is very large, and I doubt I could transfer it to you from my location. The track guide provides illustrations of the various components used for catenary setup and examples of actual track applications. Even this information seems sparse and not particularly enlightening but it is something. This information may be similar to the instructional insert provided by Marklin when you purchase on of the catenary sets.

Z world had a copy of an early instructional pamphlet.

Honestly, you might not find much more printed information about this topic.

Recently one of the forum members did a YouTube video about his recent Toporama project and he did mention catenary issues. You can check it out. He also did an earlier project and discussed catenary, so you might view his other older videos.

Sorry about that guide to zscale problem, maybe it will just be down temporarily. They could have gotten hacked and it takes a bit of time to fix and secure. I had weird problems when I tried it too. Sad to say, “Here today, gone tomorrow” is becoming a more frequent experience on the internet, we may have lost another useful site.

Take good care, hope this helps.

Chas
I will dig out my old hard drives and see if I have the rest of the files.

30.pdf (1,811kb) downloaded 10 time(s).

Courtesy of the Wayback Machine. Here’s a pdf of a capture from 2021/11/30

Edit: for some reason my pdf title doesn’t load. It should say “Guide to Z Scale catenary capture 2021/11/30”. Oh well.

To get into the site try this link for the whole site

https://web.archive.org/...e.com/html/catenary.html

You can get from there to the whole original website.

Hi Chas,

What do you have in mind for your catenary. Will it be functional (ie: powered), or just show (ie: non-powered)?
What specifically do you need help on?

I might be able to help a bit as I'm building a layout in Z-scale with catenary.

Hi Chas,

Thanks for that, but those pages were not the ones I was referring to. If you go to http://guidetozscale.com/html/a_case_study.html you will see that there are six pages relating to the case study. I can open the first two, but for the other four that I listed above, it seems that they have not been archived (or am I doing something wrong?).

Carim
