hello everyone

I just switched from a mobile station to a CS2 to be able to better control my layout.

the problem is that only 1 out of 6 MFX markin locomotives have been recognized by the CS2 whilst they were working perfectly with the mobile station.

any idea how to solve it?

another maybe newbie question, in order for the loco to be recognized shall the track be connected to the standard CS2 exit or to the programming track exit?

thanks a lot for your help

You might have tried this but put the locos on the programme track one at a time. Also try to reset the decoder.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Will try.

Just for my understanding, the cables should be connected to the programming port of the cs2 or that doesn’t make any difference?

Another thing to check is the software revision of the cs2. Some of the most recent locos will not register properly with older revision software.

If you connect your cs2 to your internet router with a cable it will contact Marklin and update itself once you select the appropriate option on the cs2 tab on screen.

I tried searching for the mfx loco using a separate single track.

after 5 tentatives it managed to recognize the loco, but then the cs2 restarted itself, lost the registered loco and now can't detect it anymore.

I'm updating the central station now, will update you all tomorrow

thanks a lot

You need to understand how mfx addresses work. I m not certain if it is the same with CS2 but a loco with a mfx decoder creates a unique connection with a CS3. If you register it on three different CS3s there will likely be three different mfx addresses. But each mfx loco also has a dcc address which is usually published in the manual that came with it. So you might try registering it on the CS2 with its factory set dcc address.

I seem to recall that the controller is designed to recognize the mfx information from the decoder. It is not the same as a DCC decoder, where it will recognize the first one with address 03 as DCC 03, the second as DCC 03 (01) and so on... The mfx address never changes.

Your controller is set to detect decoders in a specific order. Make sure it is set to mfx, dcc, mm.

You should check to see whether the locomotive may already be in the library, but is not being recognized by the controller.
if yes, you can delete it and then allow the controller to detect and re-register the decoder again. You should also check to see if another locomotive with the same DCC address is registered.

Which mobile station were you using? MS, MS2 or MS3?

If you have any locomotive cards, you can create one for that locomotive and see if the CS will accept it that way. (MS2/CS2 and later)

Regards
