Hello Adrian.

..... on 1 April 2009, during the day.
But I don't think Esu follow your time. Esu is situated in Ulm, Germany. We have still got 31.03, appr. 1/2 hour more. During the day means any time tomorrow until 24:00.

Let's hope 3.0.0 finally fixes the bug with the knobs - some new Loksound controllers "freeze" when changing direction right to left with the ECoS knobs.
http://groups.yahoo.com/...up/loksound/message/8677
Colorfull track diagrams are wonderful but I would be quite happy just to be able to change diection with the knobs all the time ...

Too bad that they could not post the instructions in English also. I will not install the software until I have instructions in English, since I not not trust automated translations. There are just too many things that could go wrong.

Sigh! How hard would it have been to at least write some simple English instructions on how to install the update? I share your concern Bill, but I will have a go tonight when I get home from work.. It is 6:34am here...

Thanks to a little help from Adrian, I just upgraded my ECoS to v3.0. I was able to read in an MFX lok into my ECoS. The upgrade is a two step process, but I didn't have any issues. Thanks Adrian!

Either I ran into a bug or I am doing something wrong. My ECoS can not detect my catenary vehicle (maybe due to the c-sine board?) and I had to turn off the MFX protocol on the ECoS in order to be able to drive it (as Marklin 28). Hopefully others will give this a try and report back.

Ok, I let it sit on the track for a few minutes and my catenary vehicle did auto-register. MFX (or M4) works!!!

Never mind. I found the answer. One needs to be logged in to see ECOS software in the download section.

I did the update... Very easy.. Install 2.51 first.. Waaaaaiiiiiiitttttttt.. Then Install 3.00.....
Totally awesome.. You need to turn on the M4 protocol to get mFx working..
Here's what I found so far:
1. There's a database of locos - some are missing like 37029, but all the Swiss Collection are there!
2. The Web based screen now automatically updates with whatever is on the eCOS screen.
3. Auto detects M4 (mFx locos and adds the icons)
4. There is a track layout thing on there - not much use to me as I have WinDigipet.
5. The current meter has moved to a more difficult to find location.
6. I did not lose any of my original settings.
I will have more time on the weekend... Perhaps we can make an English addendum to the manual?
I need to do some testing with WinDigipet... If it does not work, then I don't expect to see an update until Christmas...

Hi Adrian and all those who have upgraded,
The upgrading looks simple, but one question.
When you upgrade should you leave the Ecos connected to your layout or should you upplug the sniffer and power to track etc.
Unfortuneately I forget how I did it last time.
Thanks

Why?
But (only in case for ECoS users firmware version < 3.0.0) this also means no longer a second address to consume/to be set for MFX locs when you want to access functions >F4
Thanks for the report Adrian!
Diesel : as far as I know you don't need to be connected to your layout for doing a firmware upgrade... Just be sure when doing the update that power remains...

Hi,
It is great to be able to run MFX loco's as MFX (or M4).
The only downside of the this excellent update is that in RR&Co traincontroller I need to recalibrate all locs that suddenly run MFX and thus have 128 speedsteps.

Well both updates went smoothly enough.
I like the puffing steam train on the boot screen now!
Delighted to have the track diagrams and will have a good play when I have more time and am not so tired.
The ECOS does seem a little slower now after the update, switching between modes the screens seem to fade in after a few seconds, or maybe thta is a deliberate 'graphics effect' by ESU?

Ashley

I had the version 3.0.0 installed two days ago and yesterday I tried my mfx-lokos. It was quite a new experience !!
Sound and lights, 128 speed steps, that is now really something ! Thank you, Esu.

If you want to be informed, when a new update is ready for download...
send an e-mail (ecos @ loksound . be) to us with your ECoS ID and "marklin-users.net". Then we inform you, for free.

Hi,
How can I control my extra functions for lowering/raising the platform, the pantograph, etc. of my 39970(BR701) with the ECoS??
The ECoS system has correctly identified the loc as a M4 (mfx) decoder equipped loc. All sound functions are working perfectly.
Thanks,
Frank

Frank:
The decoder for the platform is an FX decoder with address 71. You will have to set this up manually in your ECoS like it is a separate lok. Once you do, you should be able to control the platform and pantograph.

Are you using ESUs own 90 Watt transformer...?
Goofy
Good point Goofy, no I was using the 2.3 Amp Dynamis transformer (made by ESU) at the time.
Have now tried with the ESU 90 Watt and the problem has vanished, how strange? I would have thought that 2.3 Amps would have been quite enough. I will only use the 90VA one from now on.
Thank you, I am even more happy with the update now

Ecos are using a quiet lot of power,so it needs more power to been in good function and not only output to rail too.

Today I have had sometime to work with my ECoS following the upgrade to V3.0. I have three MFX loks and they all self-registered (I deleted them from my ECoS lok list before putting them on the track). It is nice to be able to access all of the sounds and functions of my Catenary vehicle at long last. It seems like it only took a couple of minutes for these to register. All in all, this seems like a really nice upgrade. If you have a CS1 and do not plan to buy a CS2, I would recommend that you consider the 'CS Reloaded' upgrade from ESU.
Thanks again to Adrian for his help.

Miss 9 and I are going to have a crack at the track diagram this afternoon... While I am happy with the computer control she wants more manual control.. I hope to have a session with Windigipet also...

Bigdaddynz,
Yes, you can use the MS as an extra controller. You could do that before the upgrade. You need the 10-pin to 7-pin adapter cable(610479) that is used to connect a second MS to the C-track feeder track. Then you just need to plug the MS into one of the ECoSlink sockets on back of the ECOS. Under the ECOS configuration screen you tell the ECOS what locomotives you want the MS to have.

Only downside I noticed is that I have to disable M4/MFX to be able to use RailRoad & Co Traincontroller. An update for version 7 has been promissed (but I am at 5.8). So far as free updates go, now I have to pay Herr Freiwald...

They even added an improvement. When you drive DCC locos the DCC symbol on the MS should now be lit.
Does the v3.0 upgrade allow Ecos users to be able to us a MS as a slave controller?
They even added an improvement. When you drive DCC locos the DCC symbol on the MS should now be lit.
Not sure, when Trix and Marklins MS is not the same controller in functional.
Marklins MS is only supporting MM and mfx, while Trix MS can only support DCC and selectrix.
So even if you have Ecos now that are supporting in both digitalsystem, you must have MS by in functional byself.

DCC = Digital Command Control

You should go to ESU English forum...It was yesterday or day before yesterday, some people wera discussing about S88 . But you never know if it comes from customer's wrong manipulation or a real failure ( add the fact my english is quite rudimentary).

I read something on several forums :
It seems that V3.00 has some troubles if using S 88 modules from LDT.For the moment I read it from people using DCC .
Anyway , there is a single S 88 for everybody...
May be those who actually play with LDT modules should wait a little bit before loading...?
