Hello guys,

I recently bought a big lot of locomotives and some a bit different, my understanding is that you do not run AC locos on DC tracks and same the other way around as is possible to burn them.
So that being said, I have some pictures with several locomotives that I'm not sure to run them on AC or DC.
Please help me understand, as if they are AC the slider ( from Marklin) looks different on these locos.
I have 6 locos that I need to sorted out.
Need to say that I'm new to all of these.
Thanks

The locos with the really thick flanges (1, 3, 5) are Trix Express - three-rail track with separated outer rails. Not made for Märkllin track.

2, 4, and 6 look like regular two-rail locos where the small metal pin can be used to trigger contact tracks. DC operation without centre rail.

Tom

No harm intended.

I think Trix Express uses DC, but maybe someone knows for sure.

thanks guys
so for the trix express with 3 rails, what do I need to use in terms of track in order to test them? Can I try to put them on a DC track? it will harm the loco?

It will not harm them, but without centre-rail they will not move.
They are made for solid centre-rails and may not run (well) on Märklin track.

The flanges will not get through regular turnouts anyway, neither Märklin track nor Trix International track.
