I’m just getting started with Marklin and installed two turnouts. I want to power them and installed a #74491 turnout mechanism with a #74462 decoder. I followed the instructions to join them to my mobile station with assigned addresses. Easy enough, but so far neither will work. I previously installed a #70392 home signal with an assigned address and it works fine.
There is a gap in my track loop due to a missing track section (that is on order.) I’m wondering if the track must be completely connected in a loop for power to get to the turnouts properly? Other than that, I’m stumped. Wiring looks correct.

You can try completing the track loop, but it shouldn't matter. Check the wire connectors again for correct order. The spade connectors should have the flat side against the track bottom for the best contact. If your MS 2 is showing movement of the turnouts when you try to activate them, then the decoder is working. If not, try removing from the MS 2 and reinstall MFX item. If so, then the turnout solenoid is not working or connected correctly. If you are working on carpet or in a statically charged environment, do not touch the decoder electronics.

Thanks - I’ll try all that you suggested. It’s interesting that I set up two turnouts and have the same problem with both.

Update: After extensive testing, looks like the problem was a faulty decoder. Didn’t expect that!

No, I would expect a faulty solenoid first. I have M 83 decoders for my turnouts.
