Hi everyone,
I´m pretty new in the field. My husband gifted me a loco Gauge H0 Article No. 362444 with a wagon and a C-Track pack. So, I´ve bought a smoke liquid (Marklin as well) and faced an issue. The train stops after a couple of seconds if the smoke function is turned on the issue appears at medium speed and above. Although if I turn off the smoke function the loco moves well without interruptions. Maybe, somebody can help me? I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Is it brand new? Which controller are you using? Check all track joints for tight fit. Clean the tracks well. If that doeasn't help, and it is new, it is under warranty. Did you purchase it from an authroized dealer?

Yes, it´s completely new bought from the official Marlin site, the controller is Märklin 60657. I´ve checked the tracks and it seems well joined, another reason for such an assumption is that without the function it is working well.

Then I would return it. The deoder may have a defect. One thing you can check is if there voltage setting on your MS2 in the status and set up menu. Try setting it to Max. and try it. Also try letting it run longer to really get warm.

Smokers work by a heating element under the container with the smoke fluid. That is a huge voltage draw. The other possibility is that in filing the smoker you spilled some liquid on the outside and it is shorting out. That would explain the loco running properly when no electricity is being sent to the heater coil. I purchased some 2ml syringes from Amazon which allows me to accurately fill the smoke units with the maximum or less fluid.

So, I´ve found the voltage in the settings it seems it shows the actual voltage not for change at least I haven´t succeeded in making any change and the numbers are different when I speed up or down. It consumes, 17.6V without steam turning on and 17.9V with the steam. The maximum capacity is 18V. If I understood correctly it´s too much for just a loco without lights and other wagons. It´s pretty hard to find this info on the internet. Maybe, I do something wrong.

I am assuming that your models is a 36244. What happens if you run the locomotive with lights and sounds off? If the problem is due to consuming too much power, the smoke may operate normally with lights and sounds off.
There are a few shops that carry Marklin in the Madrid area. Perhaps you can take the model to one of them and test it using a Central Station rather than MS.

You can also send an email to service(at)maerklin.de or digital(at)marklin.com (USA) and see what they suggest

Regards

What about fluid I put just a little, there is a syringe with the liquid I think the capacity is 2 ml as yours, so I put less than 1 ml, but I could have spilled a little in the inner circle. How I can get rid of this? Maybe you have experience with this?

Just allow some time for it to dry up. I actually use karosene to clean tracks, etc., so just wipe clean too. Only fill the smoke uint halfway!

So, I think I´ve found the root problem and it could be obvious but it´s about connection, thanks to all of you I´ve found the amps get down until 0 before the stop. I gonna check everything again, as I am so stupid 😀 Again thousand thanks, such a warm community!

You're not stupid! Watch one of the Marklin digital club webinars on YouTube. Even Curtis Jueng and Rick Sinclair who are the experts have difficulty with things.
