Hi everyone,IMG_5577.jpeg

So I bought the Roco set 74021, the plan is to use the dining car as the power pickup and transmit to a set of LS Models panorama cars that I have.

Unfortunately the instructions on how to attach the slider is rather confusing. If you follow the directions, you need to remove a small plastic tab on the 40500 and replace it with the larger on that is supplied with the set.

The problem though, the one supplied is much bigger and won’t fit.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

Just the opposite I think. The solid tab is removed and the one with the hole for the wire goes onto the spring and the bogie.

As long as the slider can be glued using the two pins on the underside of the bogie you should be ok. The one with the hole in the middle can be used to either run the cable into the bogie mount or to affix the slider to the bogie with a screw. The original design did not have the two little holes. The new ones have both the centre hole and the small ones used to attach to the bogie.
You will also need to equip the coach with return (ground) axle contacts. If using DC wheelsets, you can invert one 180 degrees so that there is contact on both tracks. The coach will not be able to run on DC tracks after this conversion.
Some modellers use ground return contacts on both bogies for better contact.

Hi Mike,

Very helpful, thank you!

I have glued the slider directly to the bogey and it works without any issues.

Thanks to everyone who commented, really helpful getting everyone’s thoughts and recommendations.

I ended up using the tab on the slider and glued it directly to the bogey. It all works well, so happy with the outcome.
