Hi Question: is the 21 pin interface board of the MSD3 and MLD the same? When tracing the connection wires it seem to be....
But when I installed the recently bought MSD3 Diesel sound decoder (#60976) to replace the MLD decoder in my 55 series NMBS diesel (by just swapping the decoder) I now have a strange phenomena with the lights.... With the MLD the lights (white and red LED's) switch direction and color when reversing, with the MSD3, they do not and the lok does not want to reverse when the lights are switched "on", all other functions work normal. with the lights switched "off", the lok works as it should. Removing the LED's from there board does not change things.... still does not reverse when lights are switched "on" When re-installing the MLD everything works as it should....
Any idea's? Should I also replace the interface board for it to work normal?
Regards Jean-Pierre

A possible cause is wrong aux mapping in the new decoder. Did you go through the old mLD and the mapping and settings of the aux outs ? The aux mapping of the new mSD3 needs to be the same. Do you have a CS3/CS2 ?

I am using the "classic" 6021 line on my layout, but have the ESU Ecos command center also to play with... Good point, I do not remember if I did mapping on the MLD when I installed it in the lok, I need to check that, I remember it took some "tinkering" to get the light switching correctly (white / red) at the time... Thanks Jean-Pierre

Thanks again for the tip BPH!
Problem solved, it was however nothing that was changed at the time in the MLD mapping, but the new MSD had two "V" checked off in the reverse position for "unknown function", un-checking them solved the issue.
All the rest (sounds, etc) is still working it seems, so I have no idea why those two were checked as default in the first place....
Regards
Jean-Pierre
