One solution would be to do something like unballasted C track, I mean no side ballast at all and on top 2 mm deep lowered flat, so one could fill with ballast. This way it was easier to add realistic ballast to the track and also, in case Märklin wanted, to have the wide radius turnouts without the need for the extension tracks...
Just an idea.

So perhaps verticle flat sides and a recessed area between the sleepers? That might compromise the integrity though.

Me too! It's the first year for a very long time that I haven't seen any leaks. The only one you could call is the Shay but considering it's been shown in the Märklin Magazin I wouldn't call it a leak.

It seems the Dutch version of the novelties is circulating around. I haven't seen it but from the rumors Märklin will release SBB Re 4/4 II Swiss Express incl. car set and the Sputniks to tow the wagons.
If it is the complete set, I am already very excited!

If someone manages to put their hands on the .pdf, please do share. :)

The Dutch info seems to be listed on the Huider.nl website

No Flyer pdf though.

These are some real novelties! Very bold from Märklin to invest in new tooling given the economic context...

A shame there is no end car for the complete set...

The locomotive and coaches represent the Swiss Express as it appeared in 1975 when it went into service.
At that time, the consists operated as a fixed consist. At the end of the 1st class coach with baggage compartment, there was no gangway and the new SBB Logo (<+>) was applied to the body.
The consist would run in one direction with the locomotive pulling the 1st Class coach. On the return trip, the locomotive was at the other end, pulling one of the second class coaches in the lead.
I was not in Switzerland between 1972 and 1985, so most of the time I saw these trains was in photos, either in books or in the SBB calendars.
I got the Liliput coaches in the early 1980s after Hag released a model of the Re 4/4II. I think that one of my brothers has that consist today.

2025 marks 50 years since the introduction of this train, which at the time was SBB's prestige run.

I expect that we will get a model of the pilot coach and an updated consist without restaurant, both in SBB and BLS versions in future years.
The original train was about 14 coaches long. Maerklin has made a shorter version with 6 coaches total. I guess it can be expanded with additional two car sets.

The huider.nl leak seems gone now.

But I was able to quickly browse through the pictures. The tin plate US cars are a must for me. Finally a dedicated Rio Grande caboose (for my 3062)! I did not see whether there was a new loco to go with it.

Hmm, do I want another retro crocodile? I might have to get it anyway, and double head them ... Not worried about the TWE700, but I guess it will sell well.

I see I have got my wish for the Marklin trucks, but only as the trailers mounted on wagons. I'll have to see if I can find appropriate tractor units to put them on the road.

I like the pack of old time tankers. Might have to get that pack.

The picture of the prototype of the Z gauge 191 with a single coach reminds me of crossing the border from Russia into Mongolia back in 1997, but that is a story for another time.

Overall I think it is a selection that will satisfy many people.

Perhaps they have saved it for the summer or autumn news? The Shay from Broadway-limited has been delayed again until late 2025..... So if Märkling is (still?) planning to release it, it would make sense to wait a little bit with the release....

That would make sense, if BL have delayed to late 2025 then I would guess it will be delayed to the Autumn NI.

Ah well, now to make a spreadsheet and see what I can afford (if anything, the way the prices have increased). Blushing Blushing

Nice selection of new items. Going to be tough to decide.

Nice to see the offering of an "Affordable beginners model", esp in steam. This wording should be changed to "Affordable Beginners and Retirees model" :)

I slightly believe that Piko and Märklin have received permission from the manufacturer and will need to use Sudexpress construction.

Hard to believe it writes forever alone contract and the development cost is surely already paid.

So possibly they got some new special guarantees agreements on Euro6000.

Definitely interested in the TWE700 as I’m a retro collector/operator. I noticed AJC Kids has a freight wagon 48900 listed on their site as a new item, but it doesn’t appear in the brochure… maybe I skipped past it while drooling over the other new items LOL!

Well if you go to the marklin web site looking for 48900 you will find it. It is the first of a series of three.

Well, there are about a dozen locos in this announcement with the capacitors fitted as standard. At the top of the document they even show you the new symbol they are using for it.

Both the H0 and Z Insider locos that were announced just before Christmas were announced as having capacitors fitted, so I would suggest they are the first ones with it as standard. I can't remember if a G1 has already been supplied with buffer capacitors.

Seems like Märklin finally is going to use buffer capacitors.

Hi there, long time lurker.
Just wanted to say I find it highly bizarre that Märklin chose not to release any model of any kind that pays homage to the Canadian Pacific Empress 2816’s impressive 10,000 mile journey from Calgary, Alberta to Mexico City, Mexico and back.

They have had buffer capacitors available for use with msd/3 and mld/3 decoders for several years. I'm just surprised it has taken so long for them to build them in at the factory.

Mike

The NI brochure is confusing as it shows below the text and photos a consist of 7 coaches with two product reference numbers but the respective text for each of the sets say 4 coach and two coach respectively, and so that is only six coaches?

I am also hoping the loco will be correctly detailed unlike last years Roco version Blink Blink

This set is very tempting (I already have the set of Liliput coaches but the quality is quite poor in comparison and I have already ordered the LSModels / ModelsWorld MW2109AC coach set) and so serious consideration will now be needed. On a very positive note now Marklin have the molds for these coaches it opens up the possibility of a few other exciting livery options in the future from Marklin ThumpUp ThumpUp

Don't look back, your not heading that way.

They have had buffer capacitors available for use with msd/3 and mld/3 decoders for several years. I'm just surprised it has taken so long for them to build them in at the factory.

Maybe because their own capacitors prices are horrible....

Now the next obvious question is: what about delivery times for the 2025 items? Any info on that available, or when should we expect it?

In the new items brochure, as well as the CAD images for each of these models, they show for 38110 )NS 1100), 39133 (BR 151 red) pantographs in dark color. I hope they will really do them in dark color and nt in red.
For the BLS Ae6/8 38680 and the Insider E95 they show pantographs in metal colour and in these 2 I believe they will prduce them that way.
This said, I like all these 4 locomotives, but I probably will only go to 2 or 3 and didn't decide yet.
I bought the CCS700 and I like it but for now I have no intention to go to the TWE700.

Keep an eye on https://www.maerklin.de/...r-service/delivery-dates

Marklin will post an updated delivery schedule whenever they have updated information.

Also check the Marklin Product Database for the item numbetr, expected delivery dates are shown there.

The shops already know a aprox of the delivery date.. ask for any item and I try to say it

Some items doesn't have date like 38443, 18044 or 18050
