Good day everyone, it seems I'm not very lucky with Marklin locomotives I bought a Marklin BR 363 (39691) new in the box and everything works fine, however the rear telex does not rise enough to disconnect from the cars, while the front one is perfect. I tried with passenger cars equipped with Marklin close couplers and with Brawa hoppers with the Marklin close coupler installed, without success; the only combination that works (almost always) is with the hook that Brawa supplies by default on the hoppers, which although stiffer than the close couplers, when disconnected is higher on the track. So is it a faulty telex, or can I set some CVs via MS2 to tune it?

So is it a faulty telex, or can I set some CVs via MS2 to tune it? If you bought it from a store, I recommend that you contact the store and get it fixed/replaced under warranty. The new Telex is of the FGL type, or in English shape memory alloys (SMA). more about it here: https://www.memetis.com/en/portfolio/actuation/ Scroll down for an illustration about how the Marklin telex works. if I understand it correctly the FGL telex is controlled by a separate controller (integrated into the decoder board in the V 60's), and the aux outputs in the decoder are set to logic levels and FGL coupler mode. So changing any decoder CV's is probably too risky without knowing more about whats going on. Märklin does not (yet?) sell those new FGL telex couplings as spare parts. (I have a different V 60 with FGL couplers, and so far it is working fine) Edit: One option might also be to replace it with the older type E117993 and solder it to aux 1 or 2. (bypassing the controller board). (or a different brand telex.). But note, I have not tested it, so if it fits it would also require soldering the wires on the base pins for the MTC interface, as there are no? solder pads for aux 1 and 2 on the decoderboard/controller. Some function remapping would also be required. The E117993 is also a bit big and can also fail... Edited by user 05 January 2025 15:49:03(UTC)
