Yesterday, I read reports of a fire on a layout caused by a model of Roco's new Nightjet consist. This morning, the company released the following message:

https://www.roco.cc/ren/...htjet-black-edition.html

If you have this model, please do not use it and contact your dealer to find out the procedure to follow

Regards

I saw the photo of the fried up Taurus loco. and adjoining car. Singed to the melting point. Recall! Romania or Vietnam? Or was the Zimo decoder defective?

Don’t believe the Zimo decoder is the guilty part in this construction.

Roco should give a total refund via the purchasers dealer including postal costs plus a fixed sum to cover damage to the layout. I would not want this model back in the hope it had been fixed.
I wonder at times if manufacturers do proper testing and run locos for many hours. Not all of course but a sample should be tested before put on sale.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Yes, regardless of using a powdered fire extinguisher because the fire could have spread much worse and did even more damage.

Does anyone know of the circumstances surrounding this accident?
Was the layout power left on? Did this thing just erupt all on it's own?
So lucky no one was hurt. I'll bet the FD isn't too enthusiastic of his hobby anymore. Cursing

My dealer Rainer Modellbahn in Innsbruck has confirmed my order of the Night Jet has been re-called by Roco., it would have been a disaster to receive it her in Western Australia and than send it back., another question regarding quality control, demand from customers, perhaps delays in the construction and lets deliver them before Christmas

Not to detour from the specific issue here, but I have recently received several Roco cars with missing/broken parts and one loco with a cab window installed with glue on it. It causes me to question quality control at the factories.

Apparently Roco has determined that the analog version of the Nightjet 2 is not affected by the issue and they are returning the items to dealers for customers.
Customers with the analog version are asked not to return their sets.
