I just inherited a train set, unsure of exactly what I have, a ton of pieces and wires. Looking for help and operation guidance. I believe its a 3 rail (metal tracks) and they all start with 510... I made a small circle and added the station/ platform and one straight wired 5106 to multple 5100s. Plugged in to both power jacks on the transformer and got it running but I have no idea what everything does.

Check out the booklet "Marklin Miniature Railway and its full size prototype" that is linked in this post. That will give you some help in understanding the various items you have and how it all connects up.
