Good day, hope that this is the right section as it only relates to digital equipment.
I've been trying to use LokProgrammer and other Microsoft programmes using Wine v.7 on Ubuntu 21.10
Nothing happens or if they startup they do not have any graphical interface that can be used. The installation process scrolls fine on screen though and no erroros are reported. Maybe I've missed something? Anybody tried it, yet?

I know is long time from when you post but maybe it still helps you.
I was trying LokProgrammer under Linux using Wine. But for my desktop (AMD Ryzen 5900X) is working to start it and work with it but is impossible to program anything. Everything that must connect via serial port is not working.
I did some troubleshooting and the developers didn't answer to this problem.
On the other hand my laptop which is an Intel i7-8565U I can't make it run via Wine. I have no clue what is different. Both are using wine64.
I tried to install .Net 4.5, 4.8 and is still crashing when it starts.
So, to use LokProgrammer use a VM with Windows 7/8/10/11 and run it there.

Or contact ESU and ask them for help, they most probably now on a Christmas break

Marco Finally I fix the problem on my laptop. Here is a screenshot with my ESU LokProgrammer running via Wine 9.0: wine-9.0 (Debian 9.0~repack-4+b1)  You need to install .NET 4.8 and all CoreFonts. I've installed with WineTricks. Edited by user 28 December 2024 10:53:32(UTC)

John Honestly I don't like these companies which are building software only for a specific OS. I'm not using Windows anymore and I'm facing such issues and I need to use a VM to do workarounds. Edited by user 28 December 2024 10:54:00(UTC)

I am also a big Linux user. I only have one Windows Server left and two Windows 11 laptops. All the macs and older PCs were converted to Ubuntu. The home file server is TrueNAS and there is a Samba server running a Domain controller (mainly to keep the two Windows 11 laptops happy).
It is always about available skill sets and market penetration. Windows programmers are a dime a dozen, but there are lots more Windows users than Linux desktop users. I wonder what the impact of support withdrawal for Windows 10 will have in a market where people are already struggling with the cost of living? |

Well, is simple from the point of Micro$h*t: buy a new hardware or else we don't care about you.
Looks like they are trying to lower the system requirement for Windows 11 to be able for users to move to Windows 11.
Today I will give it a try to ESU Lokprogrammer with Wine 10 64 bit to see if they solve any issues with serial port, I still have doubts.
Via Mono ESU LokProgrammer doesn't starts at all, so Wine + . NET is the solution.

For about 6-8 months my Desktop Ryzen 5900X is running Linux with Windows as backup on a secondary SSD. Games I'm running Steam with Proton (a modify wine version from steam). I can run Cyberpunk 2077 without issue using AMD FSR 2.1 For about 2 month my Laptop is running Linux with dual boot, but primary is Linux. For some softwares which I'm not able to use yet on Linux. In my opinion M$ needs a kick in the a** and Linux to gain more popularity.
