Only because they were going to release anther Belgium version in the hobby model. But it got cancelled because it was said they were going to do a scale version of it. We will see. Cool! I'm fairly sure the shay is in sync with Broadway limited - the exact same sample/prototype has been on the trade show stands of both brands. Interestingly will be how they handle the AC conversion on this one. With the ES44's the DC model was long "cooked" before the Marklin model came along. This time they may be engineering it in?
I really think a shay is about as cool as a wildcard steam locomotive offering can be. Such a cool technology, amazing visuals, and unique history. Most are narrow gauge, so this one is basically one of the only shots Marklin has at offering one.
That being said- how they handle cars for it will be interesting... |

That being said- how they handle cars for it will be interesting... Yeah, it is a bit off left field for Marklin if they do offer a Shay. In the LGB range I can understand, but in H0, that would surprise me. It would certainly need some suitable logging cars to go with it. Another possibility would be some passenger coaches, with a boxcar or two.

I suspect there may be a Rocket as a surprise loco, as it is the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 2025.

It might just be an Excuse for Marklin to do another British loco. The Rocket could have a powered tender with slider or just an excuse to do an A4. |

I believe Märklin will upgrade passenger cars with lighting functions too.
I don´t like power couple from the loco to feed the power to the cars lighting. |

It is possible Märklin will present T18 in both Wurttemberg and Preussen era 1.
Märklin did produced BR78 which are T18 as base ground but era 3 and 4 instead. |

Can't see anything new on that list. But we will know in less than a fortnight what the rest of the items are.

I'm wondering how they are doing this in the Z gauge model, which is not digital, but does state it has a power cap installed. I don't believe it is a transcribing mistake as it has the rider "for the first time ..."

I don't know whether it will be a 2025 New Item or a Summer, Fall or Winter New Item, but we can count on Maerklin bringing out the Metropolitan Set in DB ICE livery at some point in the coming 18 months.
We know that Maerklin will continue with their series of ES44AC models. I would expect one or two variants to come out in 2025.
I have been musing for a while that Maerklin may release a model of the first series of the Re 4/4II, as they had announced such a model in Z in 2024.
2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the red/beige TEE coaches of the DB, so we may see a consist set to mark this occasion. Think Rheingold, Rheinpfeil, etc
2025 also marks 50 years of the SBB series Re 6/6, so we may see a model of this type as well.
2025 is also 50 years (official) of the launch of the SBB EWIII Swiss Express, which was hauled by the above described Re 4/4II in special livery, so a set with Re 4/4II and EWIII coaches might be a possibility as well.
In any case, we should know officially what is coming in about three to four weeks time.

90 years ago the LNER introduced the streamlined Silver Jubilee train with an A4 locomotive. Sort of an earlier version of the German era IV-V silver Metropolitan announced this year by Märklin. Kimball |

I would not be surprised to see a UK Class 66 at some point. Would people be interested in a DB Schenker Class 66 as an example?

Hi, I think Mike is right. I personally would like a Marklin British 🇬🇧 66 Just because it would go with the A3 and it’s HO AC. The ESU version is ok on C rails but doesn’t like K track curved points. I had to run mine one way or it would derail. New Items brochures are coming thick and fast now. Piko have published theirs, link is to H0 only, but N and G ones also available through Modellbahn-Kramm.

I think that Maerklin's priority in the USA will be more models of the ES44AC.
In any case, we can all wait until Tuesday to find out more

Well the Shay is stated as being a class D with Marklin number 38700 and is a HO model.
I am excited to see the model and I may finally have to buy a US loco.
