Hi all,

So I bought the LS Models SBB Dining Car with the Calanda Land Le Buffet Suisse livery.

The model looks awesome and the details are amazing, I was able to find some AC wheels from ESU, so it all works well.

So far I have fitted the Viessmann current conducting couplers and was able to find a way get it all to work well. The only issue I am having is fitting the LED strip, it just doesn’t seem to fit in there well. Unfortunately I can’t seem to get the roof off and I’m hesitant of forcing anything.

Not sure of anyone has had any success, I’d love to get any tips you guys might have to help.

Many thanks in advance,

Eddie

Hi John,

Unfortunately the instructions are very basic, just a picture on how to attach the accessories and how to remove the body - that’s the extent.

It says the model is ready for lighting, which it virtually is. But yoh have to figure that out yourself.

It's quite easy.
To disassemble cage from frame just enlarge the body around the bogie area and gently pull the frame from buffers, but this is not really needed.
To disconnect roof from cage I just used a nail, I lifted the roof in one corner and slided the nail all along the the cage, the other side opens easily.
And now that's open I will put lighting.
Regards

The LS Models EWI Restaurant were delivered in AC and DC versions. The reason for this is that the AC versions came with the slider mounted. According to LSM, it is not possible to mount a slider on the DC version.
The slider and axle contacts are pre-wired to facilitate interior lighting.
I was not aware that these models were made with two piece shells. As far as I know, the model was rendered with a single piece housing. I can't think of a single LSM coach in my collection that has a two piece design.

As far as removing the shell, just pry the coach walls apart near one of the bogies and gently separate the shell. You may need to also repeat near the other bogie.

Hi Mike,

That’s correct, I bought the DC version and will be using current conducting couplers from Viessmann to deliver the power from a PIKO coach that has the slider fitted.

I just needed to modify the copper pieces near the bogies.

It’s just that the LED strip won’t fit between the interior fitting and the roof. So the workaround will be having the take the roof off, similar to the Roco coaches I guess.

Hello,

Many thanks for sharing, seems like the assembly is similar to the Roco coaches, let’s hope I don’t break the small tabs that keep the roof on!
