I am looking forward to the new T-3000 container cars from Maerklin/Trix. I have a couple of cars of the same type from Piko. I ordered the orange Wascosa ones from both Maerklin and Trix. They both come with 20 foot container loads from the Swiss company Bertschi. I have bought some trailers from Kistenschieber.eu (Kombimodell) as discussed in a separate post that I intend to use as loads for these cars. As Maerklin uses a different system from many others, where the pins are mounted on the underside of the container and fit into sockets on the cars, there is a limited number of loads which can be used/ I have a few 45 foot containers from special models released for the Dutch market, but not very many that were released as regular models. As such, for trains like my Ferrymasters and others, I have had to load those containers on cars from other brands. I would love to see more models from Maerklin with a focus on the north-south (Gotthard/Loetschberg/Brenner) routes rather than on traffic between the North Sea and points east. I would also love to see more 45 foot containers for Maerklin cars, which brings me to one question about the prototype... Can the 47470 type (T3000) be used with 45 foot container loads? The foot spacing is the same as a 40 foot container, but I'm not sure how it sits on the car vis-a-vis the end of car or pivot. If you have received these new models already, please let me know your opinion. The new NEM buffer heights seemed a little off when the car was run with an older Maerklin loco (loco buffers too high). Regards Mike C

I too have a Piko T3000 and am looking forward to the Märklin example. Mine will be one of the Trix brand offerings with Bertschi tanks. Kimball |

I have a pair of Piko T3000 (Wascosa). Both cars have "LKW Walter" trailers as loads. The Maerklin and Trix Wascosa ones have the usual 20 foot "Bertschi" tank containers. The Trix DB one has "LKW Walter" trailers. I hope that Maerklin eventually brings out the Hupac, CEMAT or VTG/AAE versions as these are more common on the Gotthard/Loetschberg lines.

It looks like a 45 feet would fit. Sems to be two pads just outside the 40 feet pads.
I’m also going for the Wascsa and the LKW WALTER. But they are a bit over priced compared to Roco and Piko.

Due to the fact that I wanted to be able to adapt the loads, the Roco model with its unique fixation system for containers and trailers is frustrating. You cannot use Herpa trailers or containers. The Piko models are not too bad. I wanted to see what the Maerklin model will be like. I will probably add the Trix DB model with LKW Walter trailers, just so that train is not entirely made of Wascosa cars. A few Hupac/VTG AAE ones would be very nice to have. I have to look and see how common DB/DB Cargo cars are in Switzerland. I know the "Winner" train used to run with DB cars
