Hi
I haven't posted for a while, but have been monitoring the site.
I continue to slog thru my first smallish layout in z scale with a German theme as to buildings and rolling stock.
I have been building various items from the normal manufacturers from Europe.
As I start to look at them collectively in the context of the track layout some seem disproportionate as to the size of the trains and also to each other.
I also bought some z scale computer printed items from China and these seem out of scale to me as well.
To be honest, I can't say I particularly care if everything looks perfect as I am just enjoying the processes involved with the build.
Any thoughts as to what I am seeing?
Regards,
Greg

Hi,

A lot of manufacturers don't build their kits to an exact 1:220 and even if they do, they are usually quite fierce in using selective compression. I understand this on one hand as most people don't have huge amounts of space for buildings on their layouts and, on the other hand, you need to buy more kits to fill up any given space (good for the manufacturers). A simple way to get round this is to scratchbuild - get a picture of a building you like off google, etc, sketch a quick plan with the dimensions you want and off you go.
