The locomotive 38141 has matching coaches 43230. I don't see any details regarding lighting. I would like to be able to install current conducting couplers. Does anyone have information on this?

Regards
Harvey

Hi Harvey,

The Märklin product page for the coaches states that they are ready for lighting installation, but doesn't list which lighting kits fit.
Usually this means that Märklin may not have the final information on that yet, as in which of their lighting and coupler kits they want to recommend for this set. I'd wait until they are released, then Märklin *should* have this information provided, or ask with Märklin directly.
Cheers, Max

Viesmann light bars can fit almost any coaches. You just need the right slider and ground spring.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

As 43230 seems to be based on the standard Märklin 24.4 cm Schürzenwagen's, any lights that fit other Schürzenwagen should probably fit. E.G. 73410/73411, 2x73400/73401, or 73150
But please check with the manual when it is published.

Märklin answered me about the same question on Facebook. They wrote that it is possible to install lighting but didn't specify which one.

I have bought Marklin coaches that listed lighting in the description. They listed a Marklin lighting set but when I checked with my dealer he said lighting these would be tough.

They were Trix coaches and there was no factory solution to powering the lights or any easy way to install the lights. It really wasn't a solution, just a bullet point in a product list, so this is not surprising. I have bought many coach sets, then bought the Marklin lighting, installed it and been happy. But I learned it is not always that easy.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Hi all,

I noticed this item has now been released, some of you may have already received your orders. I have mine on order and will be receiving soon.

For those who have received theirs, I’d be really interested to have your opinion on whether you were able to install the lighting and a grinder for power pick-up.

Judging from the comments and understanding that this may have been a Trix designed, I’m hoping that there won’t be issues with getting power to the lights. I’m also wondering if the standard current conducting couplers will work as well.

Märklin 73410 or 73411 would be suitable, along with associated pick up shoe and earth. Current conducting couplers are another question.
