Station announcement rotates but only go in one direction going from south to north. Wonder why Marklin does not cycle from north to south. Anyway to fix that?

I received this from Maerklin in regard to a similar problem with the 39810 Giruno
Screenshot 2024-08-19 at 8.02.00 PM.png

I am not sure if the Northlander has the same location and values
I would read the values to see if it is the same or ask Rick at digital(at)Marklin.com

Regards

Mike C

Update: the announcement reverses cycle when you reverse the train. I should have tested this before posting. Issue resolved.

My dealer just told me that the Northlands were somewhere in shipment and that they expect them within the next month, or so.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

I just got the same bad news, won't be seeing mine most likely until end of Sept, possibly could be later. Guess my dealer got sick of me asking so he forwarded my Email to Marklin USA and this was their response:

The production of Club models works differently than regular models. There is a closing order date for Club members to order a Club model from their dealer. This is to ensure if a Club member wants to purchase the model, they will get one. So, final production does not start until all orders are in by the closing date. This is when they have the final count on how many to models to produce. The closing date for the Northlander was the end of March, which is right after you joined.
For this particular model, they have been coming out of production at the factory in Germany in batches. There are a couple thousand models still to be delivered. The TRIX version was already delivered, as the quantity of this version ordered was much less than the Märklin version.
We have been shipping these to dealers on a first ordered in, first ordered out basis. Because you ordered at the deadline, the order will be delivered later than Club members who ordered when the model was announced.
The expected delivery date for the remaining Insider Northlanders is the end of August and the end of September. At this time, I do not know when our remaining quantity on order will be delivered. The factory also delivers to us on a first ordered in, first ordered out basis.

I placed my order with the dealer on the deadline, and have been playing for 2 weeks. My dealer got all 20 orders delivered in a single batch.

I did bought a german train magazine Modell Eisen Bahner 9/2024 and there are result after test on page 64.
There are both pro and cons.
The cons are that train set weigh too much by present high draw weight for only 4 driven axles.

I would be interested to hear more about this from people who have this train and have some run time with it.

My VT 11.5 only has four driven axles and it is the full seven unit train, and I have never had any problems with it. Four driven axles for a four unit train would seem fine to me, even though it is a heavy train. But so is the VT 11.5 and it is fine.

What do lucky forum users who have this set have to say?

Jim

VT11.5 have double headed motor.
It´s not the same as Northlander.
Northlander have only one motor.

Tw0 DCMs driving four axles, versus one can motor driving four axles seems pretty equivalent to me. I do prefer to have power cars at both ends of trains like that, but I also don't think it is absolutely necessary.

Speculation is free - I will wait to worry about that when someone who has the model says that it is a problem. I don't expect that it will be based on how well my push pull trains with just an engine on one end run.

Jim

Two DCM five pole motor make sense and difference from one can motor.

No problem on flat. Haven't tested on grades. This is the same as RAm TEE 39706 so any problems should have been discussed back then.

I have bought many Marklin items from Modellbahn Collectors over the years and can recommend them highly.

AFAIK the Northlander always ran with the power car ahead, so it would be great if the CVs supplied by Mike C would work.

Tom

Good point. I also notice the announcement is missing the last two stations Matheson and Cochrane terminus.

For what it's worth, My Northlander was finally shipped yesterday, which lines up with my expectations, since I often order Insider models near the deadline.

Really looking forward to seeing my early Christmas present!

Jim

I have my Northlander running now, and it is a beautiful model. As expected for an Insider it is perfectly cast, imprinted and finished. I am particularly happy with the interior detail and color, plus the great lighting, which is amazing in its completeness.

I have a question that I have not yet figured out however. Since you can control the unique classification lights on each cab independently, does that mean they should only be illuminated on the forward running cab? I don't remember any mention of that from Marklin, just a description of what each color means.

Jim

I would expect as with most new MFX models, that the light functions are direction reversing, but for but directional trains and locomotives with a cab control car can also be controlled by the lighting icons with the arrow pointing to the front of the cab. So if they are on the mfx decoder functions then yes.

No these are direction independant. I can have the classification lights on each cab either off, or on in any of three colors. The question was not about the model, but about normal operating practice with the prototype. I will probably just use them both since bells, whistles and lights are my thing. Cool

I will have to check to see if I can find any info online, but thanks for the reply.

Jim

Hello,

Has anyone received his Northlander together with the insider certificate? Mine did not come with it.
Is there any information about this certificate being shipped at a later stage?
However, the Ram TEE "Edelweiss" was delivered together with the insider certificate.
Merry Christmas!
Best regards,
Armando García
