Hi All...

A friend of mine purchased a Märklin 29625 set many years ago. Unfortunately, the Transformer and the Control Unit are missing ! Could someone tell me the type transformer/Control unit that was used to power-up this set ? Did this set come only with the Märklin Delta Control #6604 or with the Märklin #66471 transformer. did the set come with both ?

Is the #6604 only used to control accessories or is it also used to run the trains ? Does it have to be interfaced with a regular transformer ?

Thank you.

Cheerio !

Hi Ranjit,

Those sets used the transformer to control the loco either in analogue, or through a delta controller.

If I had that set with no controller or transformer, I would look at a 6021 and transformer as a cheap option to get it going. I think and analogue transformer and delta controller may cost just as much.

Cheers…

Mike

Hi Ranjit
The 29625 set was made in 2000 and included a white 31 VA transformer (66471 for 230 VAC)
The Delta Control 6604 WAS NOT included in the set
The idea was to start operating in analogue and with the addition of a Delta Control , you enter into Delta world of multi-train operation (5 trains max.)
Any digital solution could do the job:
- a 6021 and transformer
- a MS1 and its special rail (It works but I wouldn't spend money on this)
- a CS1 (not wort buying) a CS2 (excellent but discontinued / not repairable) or CS3
Cheers
Jean

6647, because 66471 was presented only in 2015... and the Delta Control 6604 was included in the set but not in the case.
"Das DELTA-Control 6604 (Steuergerät)ist nicht in der Packung enthalten, gehört jedoch zum Lieferumfang." https://www.maerklin.de/...te/details/article/29625

Missing in Jean's list: the MS2.

Jean is correct. The 29625 was my “welcome” into the world of Maerklin HO — I already had some Maxi items but ran out of room 🤣

I still have it and recently replaced the Delta decoder in the BR41 lok with an ESU LokPilot. It remains a favorite and runs quite well with my CS3.

My recommendation would be to get the 29000 set which contains a MS2 and some track that can be used to expand the set

This would allow to operate the delta models on the current digital platform.

If your friend wants analog, then the normal transformer would be the recommended option. He could add a delta control or digital control (6021) to that.

Regards

Mike C
