Hi
I just upgraded a PIKO BR185 with this decoder All works fine, but at crawl speed (below 10 ~15 speed steps on the Ecos) it does not run smooth at all, shaking a lot! Once above it, it runs nicely So I am guessing the default values of the decoder don't match the PIKO motor I played around with the max en min speed settings and tried the different motors in CV 52 without much change.... I did not touch the motor feed back CV's as I have no idea on where to start with those... Any help, advice anyone??
Regards Jean-Pierre

Depends on your controller. I have only one Piko digital Loc. It's from the 90's with a basic ESU or Uhlenbrock I think. I'm supposed to be able to change the address with my Marklin 6021, but it won't do it.

Hi Jean-Pierre With mLD3 you have an automatic calibration procedure to adjust the parameters. First you need to enter manually the motor type in CV52 (You probably have done it already) Then for "normal motors" (non C Sine nor SDS motors) you: - prepare a loop of track R3 or larger is best - install the loco on the loop (alone of course) - turn on power and take control of the loco (self registration in MFX or DCC address entering of discover mode - write in CV7 the value 77 - turn a little the speed knob and let the procedure run until the loco stops. Finished
Note On the non "Normal" motor, there is no adjustment needed (no regulation)

Thank you Jean
But this is the older mLD, not the mLD3, it has no automatic calibration as far as I can figure out...
That said, most of the rough jerking on low speed was tuned out by playing around with CV's 53 to 55 based on settings I got from the ESU V4 Lockpilot, not perfect yet however as the lok tends to jump ahead a little to fast when starting off, like it takes off in speed step 2 or 3 instead of 1

when I have these issues the first thing I do is to disable CV3 & CV4 and then starts increasing CV2 so that loco starts moving at first speed step. I then adjust CV5 and CV6 accordingly to get the desired speed. Then I re-enable CV3 & 4

It is moving pretty good now, but not as perfect as my M* lok's Guess the quality of the motor itself has some influence on it also.... Regards Jean-Pierre
