Hi,

My father recently passed away. While I was cleaning out his house I found in the deep recesses of his garage a couple of tin plate toys. On one of them on the rudder is stamped the words made in Germany. I think they may be Marklin-Bing but I'm not sure how to tell. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify them and where I might be able to find more information about them.20240617_165816.jpg20240623_130114.jpg

Thanks in advance

Bill

Do a search for antique and vintage German toy and model ships. If an auction site called Catawiki comes up as a result, see if any are up for bidding. You may also find Carrete toys and trains, Schuco, etc.
The Greenberg and Kohls value books too.
I had a look, and the top ship may be a Gerbruder and Fleischman. Fleischman was in Nuremberg and made ho and N scale trains until they were merged with Roco of Austria. No only N scale.

The first one is likely Carette/Fleischmann and the second one is harder to identify

Can you post the markings or a close up photo?

Regards

Thank you both for the help. I now have a path to do some more research. Will get some better pictures of the second ship and post those. Have not been able to find any markings on it

I looked around on the larger of the two ships and after picking away some of the paint I found what I believe is the Bing mark. Have not been able to find any examples of this ship online but I'm pretty confident that this one is a Bing.
