Hello,

I have a Marklin 3039 loco which is on type C rails. Through the two analog controllers that I have, one is Mehano and the other is Fleischmann 6720 (the images of which are attached), the loco moves, but the reverse function of the controllers does not work and the locomotive only moves in one direction regardless of switching the direction...Thank you for helping me find the problems-l1600 (11).jpgs-l500.png

Hello Farid,

The Fleischmann 6720 doesn't appear to have enough output voltage to make the 3039 reverser operate; those reversers need about 27V in a pulse (not sustained).

The Mehano's printing on the top say it's output is DC voltage 0-13 V; the 3039 requires AC voltage. Even if it is working, it looks like it's output is less than the 27V needed to operate the reverser.

I hope that helps, or other members can chime in if they're familiar with these controllers.

I have the 3039; thanks for keeping yours going!

Brian

Dear Farid, these Trafos aren't what do you need. Märklin Lokos ar all working with AC current. so, obviously you're using the wrong Trafo, You can find many of them in second hand for cheap. I hope it helps you
Beste regards
Stefano

Hi Farid,

Märklin analog transformers are delivering an AC Voltage from 0 to approximatively 15v.
To reverse the locomotive direction, there is a special position on the transformer delivering a momentary over voltage
to drive an embedded relay in the locomotive:

You can see in the beginning of this video what is happening in the locomotive (for example, this is an old 3000):

The two transformers you show are DC. Maerklin operates using AC voltage. On classic models, the direction is determined by a mechanical or electrical relay, which is triggered by a voltage surge that is actuated by either turning the speed knob to the left of 0 or on older transformers, by pressing down on the speed knob. This action sends a voltage spike of around 23VAC, actuating the relay and the locomotive then runs in the opposite direction.

For operation in France, you need a basic transformer for 230V (66471). https://www.marklin.fr/p...ts/details/article/66471

I hope this helps.

You may also be able to find an older model (66470/6647) on ebay or other website
