I am unaware of how the situation you describe may be addressed.

If the Event is used by multiple of your locos/decoders then it may be something you have to put up with.

However if the event is bespoke, and for a particular loco, you might wish to investigate it the other way around.
i.e. instead of having the Function trigger the event, se the event to trigger off the function.

as a simple example the following event triggers off the wiper icon (which turns on the wiper) and causes the wiper sound to run for 10 seconds and then turn off both the wiper and its sound

One simple way is to start recording a new event, press the red button.
Then issue your commands (windscreen wipers, smoke, light, speed change, etc)
Stop recording
Edit the commands you wish (speed or timer changes
Delete the commands you don't need
