Hi,

I'm considering getting an ECOS and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference is between the 50210 and 50220?

Thanks

Mike

50220 is just an update of software from what i read i have the 50210 and am more then happy with it the best thing about the eCoS system is that when you purchase one you get all you need in the box, there is no need to pay more for a power supply. It truly is a plug and play unit. Will never switch to an other system.

Thanks.

It seems a little weird that they would advertise it as a new product if the only difference is a software update. Looking at the technical specs, the two seem identical. Any idea what the software upgrade entails? It makes me wonder if you can upgrade the 50210 to the same version of software as the 50220. I actually have an Ecos 50000 but mine seems to be falling apart which is why I'm considering a new one, also, I really don't like the black and white screen.

only way to find out the difference in both units is to read all the specifications and compare them,
I would strongly suggest getting a new unit be it the 50200 or if you want the latest then go for the 50220. all comes down to how much difference there is between units.
I bought mine in the Netherlands back in 2017 and have been very happy with it. i was a member of a marklin club here in South Australia and they introduced me to the Marklin system, soon found out that those units you need to buy an power supply separately at added cost.
Yet talking to an other club member at the time he suggest i look into the eCoS system, which i did and as it happened a Member here in this forum offered the old 50000 to me which i bought and after that i was hooked then like i said i upgraded in 2017 an the 50200 has been my go to controller since. A friend here where i live uses an Ulhenbrock system and even that he has had to buy an added power supply so he could run more the six trains.

Anyway which ever decision you make it will be better then using the 50000 as they can not have the firmware upgraded anymore.

Hope this has helped
there are other members in this group who use other systems so keep a look out for them.
Regards from South Australia.
Peter

Hello Mike,

The only information that I could find on the difference between both units is that the 50220 has been technically revised internally to make use of availability of new electronic components. Electronics took a major hit world-wide over the last few years (due to COVID) and sourcing became an issue.

It's all early in the game and ESU has not put out any technical info. Therefore, please take this at face value.

Cheers,
Andry

Hi,

It has a new touchscreen with, according to ESU, a better sensitivity. I have had mine for several years now and never had a problem with it. I can really recommend it.

Thanks for all the responses. At the dealer I normally buy from, the price for the 50220 is going to be $950, the other dealer I use has the 50210 for $850 but no price on the 50220, I guess the big question is whether the features of the 50220 are worth the extra $100.
