Hello all, Does any one have a Marklin 3149 first and second version to illustrate the difference? The first is supposed to have three lamps on each end? I can't find a picture of that. Thank you in advance. Regards, Roman

As far as I could find, going back as far as the original 3069 (1963), this model had only the two lights. The 3149 had two versions, the first from 1979-82 and the second from 1982 to 1985 The model was then reissued as 3459 with a Delta decoder and then as 37653 in 2004 with MM decoder.

My copy of Koll's catalogue tells that there indeed was a version 3149.0 that appeared in 1979 only with three headlights. It indicates that this version is quite rare. The three other versions had two headlights. 3149.1 bore the number 8024. 3149.2 and 3149.3 had a different number 8058. Why Koll decided to use the peculiar version number "0" is unclear. |

My information is that there is a SNCB shunter with three lights, but it is current and represents locomotive 8002 and is available in Starter Set #29464. It has 3 lights on each front and has a blinking yellow light on the roof. The original V60 (3065) had a third light on the exhaust vent and on the opposing side of the cab. It is possible that the initial release of the model in SNCB colours may have simply been a repaint of the DB version before additional changes were made, but this seems unlikely to me as the 3069 already had the modifications made when it was marketed. https://i.ebayimg.com/im...AOSw691l-i-W/s-l1600.jpghttps://i.ebayimg.com/im...AOSwgcBjSR~W/s-l1600.jpgRegards Mike C

The version of the 3149 is shown in MM 1/79. It is a prototype that never went into production. I still wonder if it even exists as a prototype, since this is a drawing. Same as for 3155 with number 111 111-1 in the same issue of MM. Bart |
