Just received RBe 3/4 "Red Arrow" 37866. Nice finishing touches on this model, I like the shading on the roof and the spiffy SBB graphics.
Speaking about them, I noticed that it says SBB-CFF on both sides of the rail car. My old 3125 has SBB-CFF on one side and SBB-FFS on the other. I believed that was the standard, with the acronym in the three official swiss languages.

One other thing I noticed is that the handrails on the doors are still plastic. This is funny because all my new Rivarossi and Acme locomotives come with plastic shells and metal handrails and additions. Maybe I can find some after-market metal handrails for this model or self-build them.

Did not try the model as I am still moving and all is in boxes but like the looks of it. The attached wagon is nice, I will probably put a end-light on it (that would have been great from M)

One more thing: the new model is a RBe 3/4 while the older carries the RCe 3/4 denomination. Is this different eras or were the prototypes different in any way?

The "B" and the "C" refer to the passenger class. You'll notice that the RBe is marked for 2nd class and the RCe has 3rd class markings.

Throughout most of Europe, 3rd class was abolished at around the time of change from Era II to Era III. I assume that the two examples are from either side of this change.

Right, Sir,

SBB = SCHWEIZERISCHE BUNDESBAHNEN

CFF = CHEMINS DE FER FEDERAUX SUISSES

FFS = FERROVIE FEDERALI SVIZZERE

Hi,

This morning, I ran for the first time my 37866 .It looks very fine, with smooth running, but it seems to me It has a steamer whistle .Did anyone notice that?

Greetings all. Could it be an air whistle? Many steamers were equipped with air compressors. Could they have also had air whistles? The DB br103 electric has one.

Location: On 1965 Märklin Boulevard just around from Roco Square
sparpart list: mfx decoder + a swiss sound module.
The only real difference is the interior lighting and the wagon.
everything else can or could be converted.
I had three of them, 3125, 3126, 3127. sold the blue and burned out the motor on one of them.
It got stuck on my layout without me realizing it. it does'nt take long either.
Bit noisy but with ESU lokpilots, much quiter running as before.
I may get the spare part coupling to be able to include a carriage,

About the body , is 37886 the same moulding as before or a new one ?

The moulding is exactly the same
Differences :the red colour of 37866 is a little darker
the bottom of the body is grey
the decals of the roof are different
the roof of 37866 is weathered
the handrails are grey
