Hello,

A recent topic https://www.marklin-users.net/fo...entification-help-please introduced me to the Linde tank car range.

The 4440 series included the 4440/90710 here in the photo:

I do not own a Linde tank car, so I ordered this one from a seller in Ukraine.
This 44510 in the Hobby series is a different model from the 4440, and was produced in 1995.
It can be fitted with the 7205 guided close-couplers.
It appears be a pressurised tank car to carry gas.

And here is the real one, in a photo supplied by Jimmy Thompson in the other topic.

If you are of a mind to compare numbering, this model is #7416 063-7 Bf Salzgitter. You can read the real car numbers from the image.
The model is faithful enough to the original design, although the livery is different. ThumpUp
This tank car will give me some operating variety for an era VI freight train on the main line including a smaller local train operation.
On that subject it is especially suitable for haulage by a small shunting loco like a DHG700 or BR363 (old V60).

Now to finding the trackside details. Plastruct has some "propane" pressurized gas tank kits, although sometimes not easy to find.

The amazing thing for me is how close to the prototype Märklin got in the Hobby range! ThumpUp A thing of Beauty!

Hello Jimmy,
My layout has no room for a large lineside addition, but a token tank is possible on a siding used for Pwg's (cabooses) or disabled vehicles.
They say less is more .....

I agree about the Beauty, I am consistently amazed at the techniques of mass production even going back to the tin-plate era.

I changed the pin shank Relex coupler to the 7205 close coupler which mates better with other rolling stock.

Kimball,

Nor does my tiny pike. I was not sure about the H0 scale propane tanks as the Plastruct (and Walthers) are about 9-10" long (3.5-4.0 cm), so I am thinking of either the N-scale tanks (on H0 layout) or even a Direct-to-Truck set-up like this, although I am not sure about now "Health and Safety" would feel Blink Blink

Just for the record, here is a picture of the 44510 Linde paint job, although it is on a 4-axle car...

You can see the differences between the two Linde wagons (2 x 44510 and 1 x 90710).
The 90710 has a different paint job as well as a ladder and walkway along the top.
