So...Caveat Alert: way odd and I am in the US:

However, as near as I have been able to gather, the output on the old Faller AMS trafos was 16VAC. If that is incorrect, PLEASE correct me.

The reason I ask is this: IF I can secure an AMS kit, but which has either no trafo, or is a set with the 230V Euro trafo,,,

"Can I use the Märklin 6646 trafo output for accessories at 17 VAC or will that just flat out kill all of the cars and burn up the AMS road track sections?"

OR: Do I completely misunderstand this trafo thing?

There are not very many AMS sets in the US version (at least near as I can find), so I was just wondering if this was even possible. n. b. - I have almost no other accessories that would be running off the "Accessories" function...way basic analogue.

Thanks! It is probably a question which has been answered somewhere...just wondering...all help respectfully received

The 4016 had an output of 16VAC
There was another box to which the controls were connected. I believe that this box converted the 16VAC to DC for track operation.
