Hi I have got some coupling spares, number 70155 which a Relex typ 7. It is a coupling with a small box packer. I remember that Marklin produced a coupling change over from claw couplings to hoop couplings but that was in the 1940's 10 years before this coupling was introduced. Does anybody know what wagon or the intended purpose of this assembly. Roger

I believe (open to correction) that the "hook" part is to secure the spring which returns the coupler to its "neutral" position (may be repeating things). As to which wagon? Probably quite a few back in the day... |

I agree with the above and would dd that it is most likely to be two axle wagon (the long 'centering' spring runs from one coupler to the other).

Thanks gents for the replies. I remembered that in the 1939 and 1940 catalogue there was an image of the item and it was purpose is to convert claw coupling wagons into hoop wagons. The image shows the nickle Bugelkupplung Type 4 and I did not realise that Marklin produced this item right up to 1957. It makes sense as the would have been a new version for every coupling variation. Copy of the catalogues and photo of a 364 wagon. Roger
