Hi everyone,
Hoping someone here can help me, I would post something on the Rocrail forum but I find this forum more helpful.
Basically, my multilevel layout has number of blocks where a train can stop at. On the base floor, I have block sizes vary and not all of them can fit a full length train.
What I found out tonight is that one of my trains won’t pass a short block to get to a longer one.
My question is, is there a way to set the block to allow short trains to stop (because they fit) and make the longer trains just pass it?
This would be useful for me, as it will allow more trains at different lengths to run simultaneously.
Thank you in advance!

How do you currently limit access to blocks? The preferred way is to have your train lengths configured along with the block length - this will determine if a train can stop in a block. However you can also do it by using permissions on the route if you are running fixed trains thay won't change so you know what can fit where.
So if I understand correctly you've setup your staging yard with two blocks in sequence, the second one longer than the first. So you'd just create a route from the approach block to the second block and add the first (shorter) block as a crossing block. That way if the longer train can't fit in the shorter first block, it will use the route to the longer second block assuming the first (crossing) block is empty. |

Maybe you can use the "VIA blocks" configuration in Route? https://wiki.rocrail.net/doku.php?id=route-gen-en"Crossing blocks can be kind of misused to set up a route over one or more normal blocks to get a very fast connection between two points of the layout." So the longer train would use route permissions to choose the route that is setup with the via blocks configuration where the shorter block would be selected as a value. BR, -Eino

Hi all,
Apologies for not replying sooner.
I found a solution, which was to create the via block route. I since read your comments as well, which has helped also.
Thank you so much!
