Roco 78652 186 RAlpin/SBB/BLS It's Complicated

I just received my Roco 78652 186 908 "RAlpin"/SBB Cargo Traxx locomotive. This is the first Roco Traxx in my collection which has the new motor, sounds and the snow plough attached to the shell. The earlier Re 482 (185) and Re 484 models had a moveable snow plough attached to the bogies. I am very impressed with the sounds on this Roco/Zimo sound decoder. It will be nice to have similar sound on the new SBB Re 484 which is due in the coming weeks. I should be able to use this locomotive in combination with my assorted SBB Cargo International Vectron locomotives. It will primarily be used to haul my RAlpin ROLA train (Maerklin with Couchette coach from ACME), but the prototype has seen use in all kinds of freight trains.
The "it's complicated" note in the subject is because this locomotive is one of those which were originally leased from CB Rail by Crossrail. With the cessation of operations, these locomotives were given to SBB for the balance of the lease, but the leaseholder remained Cargologic, a subsidiary of the German Rhenus Logistics company. The locomotives were leased to other operators, including TXL. Once BLS acquired the operations of Crossrail in Benelux, the locomotive lease was transferred to BLS Cargo, but the locomotives were once again put into operation by SBB Cargo. To make things more complicated, the operations of CB Rail were transferred to Macquarie and finally to Akiem. The locomotives received an interesting livery, with one side having the now well known "Alp Piercer" livery while the other side bore advertising for the RAlpin ROLA network between Freiburg and Novara. The locomotives now feature an Akiem logo on the locomotive faces.
I have not had a chance to run the locomotive too much, but I am happy with it and glad that I added it to my collection. I would still love to have one of these locomotives in the earlier Crossrail livery, as the 185s were only used in Germany and Switzerland.
Regards

Sounds like a pretty neat loco Mike. Good to know the sounds files from Roco/zimo are good ones too.
Cheers…

Nice! I didn't know they had a "new" motor. My 78749 br218 has a can motor, not open frame.

I got it today. Excellent model. Decoder is mfx, but engine name is ZIMO and function icons do not appear. On Ecos I see only F0-F14. No problems pulling 10 Marklin RoLa wagons + ACME couchette coach on a 3% grade. BTW, marking is 91 83 2186 908-6 I-BLSC i.e. Italian

Mario, I think I also had to assign icons to the functions on my CS3. I wonder if they automatically appear on a Roco Z21?
