It looks like the boxes that Roco supplies to enclose their locos has reached another level, compared to a Jägerndorfer or Piko box, the loco is screwed onto a track as well |

Quite nice, more in line with Piko and Marklin. Have they changed the manual and parts list info. Into a slide into the box edge also? I rather liked the former foam cushioning. Even the old styrofoam with the plastic holding sleeves.

I say its a great idea and other companies need to follow suit. As models become even more detailed and fragile, combined with the rough and tumble shipping world thanks to automation, a well packed and secure model is highly important. |

I think that for many of the new Roco models, the packaging will consist of a clear plastic liner similar to that used by Rocky-Rail and a few other companies and completely get away from styrofoam. See this video from Roco: One advantage may be that models can now be stored with the additional user mounted parts added. Regards Mike C

Marklin always adds cotton pads where the nose of the models contacts the plastic.

I just hope the clear plastic ages better than Marklins did at one time, where it became yellow and brittle. |

Hello. Well i think that this kind of packaging has been there for years. I have one old loco with. Also it seems that it is reserved for high end models where it can be used as an exhibition vitrine. I have it on 3 locos and others from the same timeline have the standard packaging we are used to. The new standard plastic liner will replace the earlier styrofoam cradle and the foam/plastic insert design of recent years.
