Hi (a first name would be great) A warm welcome to this great forum. You got yourself a Märklin Albatros MFX+ loco.
If you need our help we need to know: - which central unit are you using? - what are the problems you are facing?
We will be glad to help I am sure. Here a Märklin fan from France with digital and PC-controlled layout

thank you for your replies. Jean, i don't know what you mean by central unit but the problem i am having is the locomotive won't do anything on my track. it causes a dead short which i understand why but am i going to have to purchase new track and controller to run this engine? copenhagen, no, i am not using marklin track. my layout is with atlas 2 rail track. this is all new to me, i am use to bachmann engines, etc. thanks again. bill

Hello and welcome!
The axles on Marklin locomotives are electrically connected for common ground, the center rail picks up power from the slider on marklin 3 rail locomotives.
That will be why a short will be caused on two rail track with this locomotive.
If you don’t want to buy marklin track and controller (aka central unit) then you could perhaps return and purchase the DC version of this loco from trix; item 25498

You could buy the Marklin book on digital running and also a Marklin catalogue which will give you the information on the system. It appears you are running a loco for three rails on a two rail system. You are mixing two different systems which will not work. As said above if you wish to go with two rail then you need a Trix loco. |
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer. |

Welcome, and exactly as David stated! I also recall the NCE question being asked during a Marklin YouTube digital webinar. NCE and Motorola/MFX decoders/systems do not communicate.
