Has anybody got any spare Reverse/Telex units sitting on your shelf that I could get for a reasonable price?

I am looking to replace the one in my old girl 3031 and another to keep as a spare.

I don't really want to scrap the old girl.

I have been fixing her up and got her going nicely but unfortunately the reverse unit and drum are past the point of no return and the telex's stay on in all four pulses. I have been advised by a member not to run her continually like this as the telex's are only supposed to stay on for a moment to unhook the rolling stock.

The Telex's work fine - so is has to be the drum or the fingers of the reverse unit.

Cheers Owen

Hello Owen !!
I think tere suppose to be an isolationwasher under the metalplate for ground, not easy to tell from the picture. The telex is oprated by ground. As it seems to be now everything is grounded,an the telex are activated.
Maybee this is not easy to anderstand, but i mean the metalbracket that lies under the skrew holding the device. Also metalplate(ground) must be isolated from the springcontacts.
Hope you will be able to fix this.

Best regards kaav800

Hi Owen
Here is the 1960 Märklin parts catalogue related to the Telex Relay 21374
There is a long screw (#3) attaching:
- the contact plate with thin copper wire (coil)
- the relay transparent housing (fig 2)
- the drum holder (sheet metal #4)
- the loco frame
Indeed there must be an insulation between the contact plate with thin copper wire and the contact blade underneath otherwise, that contact blade - one of the motor directions- is permanently connected to the frame ground (goes in one direction and hums before burning in the other direction).

Hello to all the members that offered advice on this subject.

Update - I have managed to get the old girl working with some creative soldering and pin adjustments. lots of trial and error but a great learning curve.

Cheers Owen
