Hello: What glue should I use to re-attach the plastic windows on a tinplate coach? Thanks in advance.

Hi, This should be safe to most materials. I have used it to glue transparent plastic parts and photo etched metal parts. MIG Ultra GlueCheers Åke

Hi One glue I recommend is the 61121 temporary glue from NOCH. It is safe to use on any support (can be removed without leaving traces - sort of rubber glue) Excellent for instance to glue the engineers into the cabin of a loco. I may be wrong of course but in the old Märklin tin-plate cars the windows (sort of Rhodoïd) were held in place by metal tabs (see in red frames) This is a 1959 second class DB coach Cheers Jean |

I am not sure about the details you require (each window) or just ends of a long strip. In any case, when dealing with older models I prefer to stay away from using glues because they can spoil an external finish. It may be useful to discover Alternative means of fixing, such as an internal bent thin metal bulkhead with a tight enough fit to hold the windows. A couple of bulkheads can be shaped like a U and need only be high/wide enough and/or positioned so they dont show. Kimball |

I have used this glue for re-attaching clear plastic windows etc to plastic and metal Coaches and locos. It was recommended to me by a local hobby shop owner. Works great, can be a bit 'stringy' though so go carefully. |

Maybe you can try just a very tiny drop on the corners of the glazing piece, or even one or two corners, allowing it to dry before refitting it. That miight make it fit tighter. Then no more glue needed? If you apply too much at first, use a toothpick to remove some. You can also use a small file or sanding disc by hand to remoce too much dry adhesive.

It is hard to get in in Australia so I have collected 12 tubes of it. Kimball |
