So, here in the states it is “pre order” time for Marklin’s 2023 new items. I don’t know if this is how the rest of the world works but here it is the best way to hopefully insure you can get a new item. So I was wondering if it’s the same in other parts of the world? I’ve decided I need an E-19 so it’s the #88085 for me. Last quarter of 2023 so “tongue in cheek” a delivery anytime in 2024 would be nice. ;) But I digress. I was wondering what you guys are going for? Blue bus? More steam? Anymore I try to collect the “different” looking loco’s so the E19 certainly fits the bill. It’s an interesting loco.

what blue bus? I am awaiting the V320 insider. Pre-ordered the insider battery unit train too. That postal V36 set does look nice too...

Ah, thanks, that’s what friends are for! And then a yellow one? I wonder what colors were produced?
I also ordered the 188 and the V320. Still waiting but no hurry if I actually get one.
The battery powered car I passed on due to it being too close to my railbus. Kind of the same reasoning as the VW.

HAHAHA! Yes that was what I was thinking.
Why not get them when they are new?
And since there are only two, it's an easy collection!
Some other 'simple' collections:
V300
BR96
V36
Over the years, it's possible. There are locs with 10 or 20 different versions or paint jobs, I'd rather not start with them :)

They run well for what they are (tiny belt drive) and make your track look bigger!

Just wondering
Is there a reason why they didn't use direct drive?
Or is the motor not that small?

I don’t know. It is unique. I bought a bag of spares with mine, the rubber rings are very thin to reduce drag. Looking at the schematic it appears the motor drives a flywheel which drives both axles via the o-ring. It’s brilliant but who knows how long the rubber will last. Maybe I’ll measure one, it might be necessary in the future to order them by size depending on availability and lifespan.

Now that the Re460 (88468) has been released, I have to question why Marklin have repeated the’Swiss packet’ lights instead of modifying them to show two red lights at the rear as found when they are propelling push-pull coach rakes. It appears to be a bit lazy on Marklin’s part considering they had to update it for the new motor!

If Z scale was digital it would have multiple lightning features like Marklin ho ones now. Since the standard Swiss format is on white rear marker, that's what it has.

Two red rear lights are correct when the loco runs single or pushes a train. If it pulls a train, then a single white rear light is correct - and that is how MRR locos are usually used. IMHO they chose the most suitable light configuration for a loco. |
