Hello, hope all is well.
Sometimes when least expected you find something special.
Is that 8864 the first year release with the one year only box? It has a man and boy printed on the front if it is. What a treasure.
Happy New Year to all.
Take good care

Of course there are a lot of these V260 over the years. My V260 and BR89 are from a commemorative set with two BR89’s, one of them being a solid casting, nice loco. Edited by user 02 January 2023 07:12:11(UTC)

Hello
That would be a one year only box. The insert should have a 1972 date, so it might be a replacement.
Good find, a V60 has been in the lineup since the beginning. They’re fairly easy to get going again.
Take good care.

Good to get some vehicles.
Do the fuel tankers and transporter have plastic or metal wheels?

Depends on when they were released. I’m not sure when Marklin switched I’ll see if my ebook says. In the very beginning I got some cars with plastic wheels for free, one was the car transporter pictured above. It took me a while to realize why they ran so poorly! It’s pretty obvious when the get going. Easy enough to swap for metal wheels though.

Hi all The wheels on all the cars appears to be metal. Correction - the wheels are all plastic. Mike Edited by user 07 January 2023 17:55:52(UTC)

Replacing them with metal wheels is easy, just have to find them ;) They can run that way though! You may notice the cars wobble a bit, it is harder to keep track clean with plastic wheels, you may have issues with derailing but hopefully not. FWIW the American brand MTL cars come with plastic wheels still. Again most of us just swap them for steel. The steel wheels just run a bit truer and add a little weight to the cars down low where it does the most good. Also the appearance of shiny or blackened steel wheels is sometimes a noticeable improvement.

All run perfectly except the class 216. Mind you, that was a bonus as neither the seller or I knew it was in the bottom of the box.
Although there is power getting to the lights, the motor was not turning. I stripped it right down the the chassis and removed the motor. Even with power direct to the motor it would not turn in many cases and on some occasions it would turn but only after a nudge.
I have managed to find a replacement motor and now await delivery.

It's nice to find Z scale sold anywhere but on the internet, nice collection you have started. How did the track cleaning car run? I got one of those and laugh anytime I put it on the track, what a racket! But they look great.

No, I don't think so. Maybe they are better at track grinding? Whoever thought that using fine pitch gears for wheels and hoping they would clean the track was either brilliant or dumb, but it doesn't make sense to me. Kind of like those wire brush wheel cleaners. Most of us think they are too abrasive for Z scale.
