I just need someone to confirm when using the S88's you can daisy chain the grounds since I believe it would be unnecessary to run a grounding wire to each moduleBigGrin

Hello,

YES, only the 1st S88 must be grounded, provided you have a Common ground on your layout.

Cheers

The S88 system needs ONLY ONE grounding on whichever module you like.
DO NOT ground multiple S88 modules because it could induce currents in the S88 system, its flat cable (6088) or its RJ45 cable (60881, 60882) for which they are not designed.

I am not sure the question is clear on the scope. and the answers may be assumptive.

If, indeed, the reference to "ground" is meant to relate to the "track return" (track rail) for the purposes of those situations where contact tracks (axle bridges rails to make contact aka C-Track 24995) is concerned, then the responses do align.

However if you are not using the track rail there is no need to connect the s88 environment to the track/booster return at all.

Examples include:
- push buttons on a control panel
- - NOTE: the L88 in matrix/keyboard mode does not use the common at all.

- reed switches NOT using the track shortcut and having both wires connected to the s88 - one for the port and one for the common (upside down T)
(refer the bottom image on page 11 of the manual https://static.maerklin....f8d3930701619688341.pdf)

- circuit switches (C-track 24994), as above , when NOT using the track wiring shortcut and having both wires connected to the s88.

- other isolated sensor/contact points - e.g
- - point mechanism with an "isolated" contact to indicate actual state.
- - arduino sensors that reflect a closed contact (relay/switch)
