Hi everyone! I thought I'd send this in case anyone knows the Copenhagen area

I have a very brief work trip to Copenhagen this week, and wasn't planning on anything rail related, but I've just learned I have an afternoon free on Thursday, and the early portion of the morning on Friday.

Is there anything worth checking out in town in terms of fun train shops (doesn't need to be marklin oriented, just cool/fun/good) or real 1:1 scale train attractions?

I'll be staying somewhat downtown, and working right next to the main rail yard at an event space they made from the old steam locomotive shops. (which needless to say all has my curiosity...)

Thanks in advance for any tips! If any of you are local I'd love to meet up for a coffee or something, but the business nature of the trip might mean my plans have to change last minute...

The only person I can think of who would know haunts the Marklin Bar & Grill email list rather than here, but there may be others i don't know of from that area.

I live in Copenhagen but I don't know of any such specialised shops. There are many second hand shops and retro shops but I guess one would have to be lucky to find anything train related.

There is a train museum in Odense that'll probably have some train related souvenirs.

https://www.jernbanemuseet.dk/en/

Here's a link to the webshop which doesn't seem to show up in the English version:

Oh. You asked about model railway shops too...
There is kystbanen (kystbanen.dk)
At Jernbane Alle 99
2720 Vanløse

And train center Gentofte
Togcenter Gentofte (closed on Tuesdays)
https://www.togcenter.dk/

At: Blåmunkevej 1
2400 København

You can probably use Google maps to find them.

Hello,
I visited the Jernbanemusee in Odense on september 30. The museum is a good one, I liked it very much. However they don't have any nice souvenir, as a wagon with the name of the museum. Any way, Odense is too far from Copenhague.
In Copenhague I recomend the visit to the main station.
Enjoy the visit to Copenhague!

Thanks everyone! If I can break free I'll certainly be trying to check out a train shop!

The Kystbanen shop is far the greatest (in size at least). Closed on Mondays, open Tue-Fri 12:00-17:30, Sat 10:00-14:00.
Easy to get to by S train (electric commuter train) line C and H from Copenhagen Central station or the "Dybbølsbro" station in the direction of the cities Frederikssund or Ballerup.

That's certainly the case judging by their Facebook postings. Lots of regular arriving items, Marklin and others.

Fun fact (to me at least) is that the shop moved to this location last year. The premises used to be a bank, that even was my bank in the 80s and 90s, and part of the display is in the vault downstairs where there is a huge, open safe - now filled with model accessories.

I know both shops.
But maybe not well enough to favor one more than the other.
Both shops feels equally big.
Gentofte has more 2nd hand material.
Kystbanen has more 1-scale items, which Gentofte has phased out.

Gentofte seems more cozy, with coffee and chats among like minded people.
Kystbanen seems more professional and business-oriented. (You can definetly barter about the price)

The above statements are just my personal opinion...

The shops are about 10 minuttes apart, if you go by car.
Both are around 15 minuttes drive from the city-center of Copenhagen.
It´s already many years ago that model trains left the high streets of Copenhagen. I remember when Magasin du Nord had a very good hobby-department integrated into their toys department. In the 70´ies...
It´s now completly impossible to get ANY model trains in the center of Copoenhagen.
