Hi All, I installed the block signal #89391, following instructions from the Marklin 0296 layout book and all is working. However, I have no idea how to combine this with the catenary system, so that if my electric locomotive gets power from the catenary, it will also be able to stop and start when I activate the block signal. Anyone has any ideas how to do this? I included the relevant pages from the layout book. Detailed diagram would be most welcome.

I’m not sure. In the HO signal book (03402) there is this two page mention I found. it’s in the 76xxx Series Color Light Signals chapter. Maybe it’ll give some ideas?

Look at page 36 in your book. It is a signal with a circuit track and isolating sections. Looks to be what you’re after?

If you are switching block sections automatically with Marklin 8599, I used some latching relays for the block sections, and added a manual override momentary switch on the control panel.  https://www.jaycar.com.a...hing-mini-relay/p/SY4060Just think of the catenary as one of the rails which you would otherwise have block sections. It simply needs isolated sections (you can do that a number of ways) and power to feed each section, no different to the rail (only one rail). If the section is long maybe an additional feed. I probably would do two feeds per section anyway. If you can't get your head around it, knock up simple a test track loop and wire that as 3 sections. Then that will be easy to replicate whether it is rail or catenary. So you want the manual momentary switch or 8599 (or both) to switch a latching relay open for the previous section and also close the latching relay for the section before that. Then repeat that wiring for however many sections (minimum 3). I think once you can see it with some actual wires on a test track you will be ok.

Finally figured it out. The second transformer that feeds the catenary, has to have the red wire hooked up to the track feed outside the block section. See attached PDF file. Signal_with_Catenary.pdf (939kb) downloaded 32 time(s).
