I looked through the PDF Brochures of autumn new items for Märklin and Trix.
There are not so many items presented, but I feel there is a good spread across all eras and scales.
So something for everyone?

I agree with Kimball, and both of us receive notification from one of the Australian Märklin distributors which includes a copy of the Fall brochure. Not sure I like the br185.0 in 'world record' livery, I think I would prefer to get the Bemo Ge4/4 on H0 trucks as being nearer prototypical. Nice to see the slim double slip finally, with its accessories - but why the need for another point decoder? Oh, it looks like it is to drive the lantern  . Pre-announcement of a new track plan book which has plans that use it as well. A couple of H0 wagons I think I will indulge in. G1 fans are getting a raft of br151s, but I wonder if they risk the same problem as happened a year or two ago where a raft of liveries of a loco type resulted in a lack of orders and the whole series being cancelled. can the market really absorb seven different versions?  Also a green G1 Kofferli - was it ever green as a prototype? They describe it as 'modern'  And now a calendar that is double sided, so you can choose between being a Marklin or Trix aficionado. I wonder if the two sides have different pictures, or just the same picture with a different logo? Looks like the Christmas start Sets are going to be the same two sets as the last couple of years. Has anyone looked at the Trix H0 brochure? The Br78 and Br193 are described as having a decoder with Railcom AND mfx. The Marklin ones have mfx+ instead. Some of the Minitrix items are specifically stating delivery in Q1 and Q2 of 2023. I think most of the items for LGB have already been announced.

I also think that it is too much expensive. It seems it has 1 motor (not 2). That is good, but the price is only paying 1 and not 2 (if I am right). are the items of interest to me.
Given that some (Emma73) have discovered it may be that the decoders (so far) are at fault to occasionally causing some locomotives to go charging off when power is applied... I'm hesitant to consider the under-mounted decoder 74467 and instead will consider a separate M83-based switch decoder solution.
I would think that one can wire it up to drive the lantern, without needing the specific decoder, just not simple plug-and play. But with the M83 you are running separate wires anyway. Its only a matter of applying the correct current limited voltage to the LED wires at the signal.
As I'm still finishing my layout design, this will allow me to feel more solidly about planning in with the slender turnouts and now slender double-turnout, in WinTrack (presently using manually defined turnout component). That will help the longer cars run a bit more elegantly through stations. |

The Class 221 in Teal / Cream appeals (I don't have one in those colours yet) as do the container cars. The era 6 Low Sided cars also appeal. The Gauge 1 BR 151 look great but a bit too expensive for me, and like Alan I wonder if there is a market for so many variations. Mind you they did that with the BR 118 electric loco a few years ago. Yes, it was a pity the BR 187 G1 and container cars got cancelled due to lack of orders - I did order 2 of the container cars. KM1 announced a G1 Vectron with container cars around the same time and I wonder whether that took sales away from Märklin. They were announced a month or two before the Märklin models, as I ordered the KM1 Vectron with some container wagons at the time, and I was surprised Märklin released their models not long afterwards. KM1 can't be too far away with them!

A fictiv bayern steam locomotive for €629,00!!! Märklin has really lost in mind how to produce era 1 models in correct color. Sorry Märklin...i prefer buy ESU or Brawa locomotive. |

Indeed, I didn't know th 2275 price, so I continue impressed. Well, for a bit more, in the 2275 they give a second motor and as such an additional point of possible failure. While I say all these things, maybe I will buy 1 or 2. After all it is better to have the possibility to have it expensive than not the have the possibility to have it all )in case Märklin didn't develop and sell it). |

Even Trix present double switch and the prices are same.
I am not sure how it works well for competitors loco models.
Maybe it works well or not for the Märklins new double switch. |

Looks like Marklin have precipitated the Herbst NI items. Not only are there the Brawa Herbst NI (German) (English here), but Faller as well I found them on Modellbahn-Kramm, but cannot find a brochure yet. You can now drill your own HS2 tunnels - at a price

One can argue for them producing a small batch size first, to get them out quick and in the field being used. This will produce feedback if there are any issues that may need fine-tuning on further production batches. Small batches mean sell out quick and it will take longer to saturate that built up demand to a steady state normal demand. One could argue for them producing a huge batch to satisfy the pent up demand estimate and thus not run out until the steady state demand takes over. But this means all in on the current production run solution, and if there is a small glitch discovered in the real world usage, you'll have produced a bunch of product that has the issue. One would hope at this stage that they have all this track technology mastered and that the in-house testing will cover what is out in home built layouts in terms of tilt and incline and warping and support, etc, and that a good in-house test produces a predictable product performance in the wild. |

I think this may be the first time there has been a Z scale car for the open days, but I may be wrong. It is certainly the first I can remember.
