Are there parts to do a DC conversion to the AC motor in the older 5700 BR80 locomotive. The newer gauge one stuff I am looking at are DC powered, and while I can run the BR80 on my AC transformer, I would like to convert it to DC power(non digital). Thanks

You need a magnet from ESU, catalogue #51965.

A friend is in the middle of converting a Marklin 5702 loco, the green version of your 5700. I helped him with some of the conversion today.

As Alan has pointed out in terms of what you need, my friend is using the ESU 51965 magnet, an ESU Loksound 5 decoder with 28mm speaker and a Seuthe smoke generator for 1 Gauge.

In your case you would need just the magnet, but you would need to remove the reversing unit. You retain the original armature and brush plate.

Thanks guys, I will get one of those magnets ordered here shorty. Now if I could find one of the 5702 versions to buy! That is on my wish list. There is also a company in Germany that is getting ready to do a gauge 1 live steam BR80 that if I can get up the 1000 euro down payment by October, I may order. That model is due for delivery in the middle of next summer, so plenty of time to save up the balance that will be due. AD
