Hallo fellow Mini Club Aficionados,

Does any one have info when finally Marklin will release Insider Z Mini Club Model V 188 double diesel ? This is getting a bit out of hand 'cause it supposed to be Insider 20121 or am I missing something here?

P.S.
From Marklin US of A I got some news that model to be expected in late July perhaps August of 2022 - can someone confirm that rumor please.
Regards,
Marklineisenbahn

It's a hobby, you shouldn't stress about it.
If you expected the 2021 model to arrive in 2021 than you were bad informed. Sometimes insider models take a few years..

Even worse, the past learnt us those insiders too can be faulty.. So there too: fingers crossed.

That said, I'm waiting too..

1. Check the Märklin "delivery dates" link ... https://www.maerklin.de/...formation/delivery-dates

2. Ask your dealer - as an insider - they should be on top of delivery dates.

If your dealer isn't on top of delivery dates - find one who specializes in Z scale. Location isn't required for the insider program - you can work with any dealer you wish - just send your forms to your preferred dealer.

Clicking the link .... 88150 says Quarter 3 2022 ... Quarter 3 is July 1 to September 30 2022.

You can also keep an eye on the product page ... Which also says Q3 2022

I had to laugh when I saw your post, not LOL, but a wry "must be new" kind of smirk. And I see my Marklin dealer has answered.
So, I have only been in the model train hobby for a few years, pretty much exclusively in Z scale. But before I bought anything I had a long chat with Frank aka "zscalehobo" and he told me right off the bat that collecting Marklin Z would be a long game and require patience. This was before COVID and all this supply chain stuff we have to deal with now. I decided I could accept that, and I have found it to be the case. So for those 'new model orders' and 'once in a blue moon' product service returns, even for Insider Club mailings, you just have to let go and then, like Christmas, here it comes. Marklin does post delivery dates but those are not cast in stone either.
I have some advice from my experiences. The 'Murphys Law' force is strong with me so I usually make a large purchase and maybe get a notice to cool it on hobby spending from my financial advisor, and the next day the invoice for whatever I've been waiting forever for comes in! So set that $ aside because one day you are going to need it. And I realize it is possible that I could change my mind about wanting something after year. So it is nice to know that these items can always be traded, probably at a profit, if you no longer want them on delivery.

As you knew I had an order from you. Still haven't stuck the people on, a few other distractions.

Anyway for us$370 of goods I paid us$65 freight. I will have to get onto it again.

I have had a few other things from various places including an order from Bhphoto in New York delivered very quickly. An order from Land Rover in UK for some small parts, ordered Tuesday received Friday (& we are half a day ahead).

They can't ship what they don't have.
The insider 2017 was delivered to stores in 2020...

But they can announce what they don't have.
The last time I ordered a Z gauge Insider model, it arrived about two years after the announcement.
The coaches in the set were warped, so I sent the set back to Märklin.
Replacement arrived 11 1/2 months later.
At some stage I decided to stop pre-ordering "complete new tooling" models and left the Insider club.

IMHO more than six months between announcement and delivery is too long.

Tom

I am certainly not defending the insiders club.

The whole point is that they aren't mass produced. So you pre-order to be sure.

If I want a model, I'll find a way ;)

Sooner or later there will be livery variations as Outsider models, so usually it's no big deal to miss the Insider model.

If the Insider model finally ships and receives positive reviews, then maybe eBay is an option if you do not accept a livery variation.

Yeah, do look out. They tend to get pricy on eBay.
In this niche, if you want something and you found it at fair price.. jump on it.

Some insiders never got released as mhi or normal. Some in a different livery or different model altogether. If you stuck to an era or operator...

If you got it at fair price, and you don't like it after all, it is easy to sell on eBay. Even with a profit.

The delays of receiving pre-ordered items can be very long. The worse I ever has was a four year wait for my Bowser Western Maryland RS3. I honestly wrote it off and I was a bit upset because I had ordered through a historical society that required a $100 deposit. When it actually arrived I was thrilled with it. It is a great model so in many ways it was worth the wait.

A purchase from a historical society sounds odd. 4 years, now that's patience. What was the reason for the long delay?

The delay was not due to the historical society. The general release of the model to the public by Bowser was four years late. The historical society had a special version of the same locomotive produced (specific road number but otherwise identical to the general release). I purchased through the historical society because the profit of the sale was directed to some repairs of their museum. I am glad I did because the general release was sold out from most other vendors within hours of the release.

The cause of the delay was the manufacturer in China.

It wasn’t historical when he ordered it, only when it was delivered LOL

Usually that's the problem when Märklin models arrive late.

A bit like the old Ghan train joke.

A female passenger is getting a bit concerned as The Ghan is very slow, so asks the train driver, 'When will The Ghan arrive as I am pregnant.'

The driver said, 'You shouldn't have got on the train pregnant.'

The young lady said, 'When I got on the train I was not pregnant!'

Keep in mind also that it's vacation season, and many employees from several trades, and companies are off for a whole month at a time in europe.

When stationed in Germany in the early 90's I had a friend whose Porsche went on the fritz due to a broken bolt in the brake system, a special bolt. It happened at the end of July and the shop told him that since the factory was closed in August he would have to wait until September to get a replacement. For his daily driver car! I remember him going six weeks without a car because he was borrowing mine all the time. LOL.
IMHO a blessing and a curse, that traditional European way. Not fun when you need to fix your car or buy a product, but in the small town I lived in it was really cool to have all the shops closed from noon Saturday until Monday morning. It kind of forced us to schedule our shopping and relax and spend time together enjoying the weekends. Unlike say the American ideal of being able to buy Christmas gifts at Walmart 11:00 PM Christmas Eve. Sorry, I'm rambling!

At least in Europe they have way more rail transit than we do here to make commuting without a car more practical.

My long awaited V188 has arrived in England at my dealer’s and should arrive on my doorstep within the next couple of days.
Reminds me that I ordered a red V288 in H0 from another dealer in 2016 - that never arrived!

Hastily got out my Rohuhan test track - 145mm radius figure of eight- put the loco on and set it running.

It derailed at the first curve it encountered.

Then I noticed the piece of foam rubber between the two halves and on removing this packing piece it sailed faultlessly around the track.

A wonderful loco with a good turn of speed and good slow running.
Started with my old RC01 controller but when I switched to the new RC03 more speed! I see that the 03 delivers 900mA against the 01s 500mA which used to trip out with some Märklin locos so big improvement.

So well done Märklin with this outstanding new model.
