47F05950-673D-4800-98E6-73FB606A0865.jpegToday an ÖBB class 52 arrived, an eBay purchase from a favourite dealer who, alas, is giving up the business after 20 years citing the difficulties associated with Brexit.
The loco is a 3 pole armature one from around 1998 but seems little used if at all, it performs remarkably well and doesn’t trip the Rokuhan controller even on full voltage. It negotiates my 145mm radius figure of eight test track with no problems. A good addition to my roster.

Lovely to deal with them.

A good idea!
Meanwhile, also last week, another couple of items from eBay arrived.
The first is 87350. Although I think I may have similar in a set with a loco I couldn’t resist this set of six 4 axle coaches, all in very good condition with the couplings fitted correctly. This is a reference to the last set of brand new Märklin coaches I bought which had one of the couplings mounted upside down!

The second was an 8771 (In an 82180 box) centre coach for the 8871 ICE set.
This had been on eBay for weeks at a ridiculously high ‘buy it now’ price with a ‘make an offer’ option. Despite the description implying it was complete I couldn’t see the corridor connection infill piece in the photo. So I made an offer commensurate with its incomplete state pointing this out to the vendor. This was declined and it languished at its high price until suddenly it was moved to the auction section. I thought I would see if I could get it at a reasonable price and in the end - due to the usual auction fever - paid a few pounds more than I had offered in the first place. When it turned up there was indeed the corridor connecting piece missing even though the description was still implying completeness. Had the vendor forgotten what I had told them?

I think we should just list our new acquisitions under a model number title so that anything we’ve bought and described or discussed can be found easily in a search. I’ve been trying to do that lately and it’s been a fun way to compare notes and do a little show and tell like club members can.

You could do that but we already have the 'Show us what's appeared on your doorstep' threads to put new item arrivals in. Although folks mainly post H0 items, I and others have posted 1 Gauge and Z scale items there.

Those threads have the advantage of it being known as to where new items postings will be.

I buy some things from Gardnerjane2 on eBay as well. Always excellent service. Sad to hear they are giving up.

Hello everyone, hope all is well.

I know I have purchased, perhaps several of my Railbus sets from Gardener Jane and was never disappointed. Sad to lose a reliable, professional seller. I didn’t make many purchases because shipping to here is very expensive.

This might be slightly off of what this post became, but . . .

You might recall a while back I mentioned how rare it might be to find a 1972 release model with the one year only package design. As you know four individual locomotives were announced in 1972. Two were steam locomotives (BR 89 and 003) and two diesel models (V260 and BR 216). I decided I needed a first year Marklin mini club BR 216 and began watching. I even purchase what I thought was a first year model but when I received it it did not have the first year box design, the correct couplers, and shell of the first year models. I returned this one. I think they were using stock descriptions and photos.

I found this one on EBay. It had the correct couplers, locomotive shell without rivets, and the correct box. Inside I noticed the wheel scraper are not made of copper. The coupler springs are usually long and with a quick cleanup it works as good as could be expected on a item 50 years old. It is surprising how much of the basics designs are still in place today.

So, they are still out there and if you watch, you too might find one for your collection. There is something special about having a model which has been around for 50 years, and this one is a great puller!

Take good care

Dwight

I have ripped out all the connection pieces. The reduced weight will allow 14 car set to run, with increased mass in the locos. Obviously bridged diodes. Also traction tyres on the front loco is an extra bonus.

Just to add to this thread - I have just ordered a kit from 'Gardnerjane2' via ebay. The kit will be sent to me here in Ireland. I also ordered something about a month ago without problems. Having said that, it can be expensive when postage and customs duties are added! Crying
