As far as I know, the SBB model has the same features as the DB model. I think the OBB version is also similarly outfitted.
To be certain, consult the listing on Maerklin.de or check the videos on YouTube and that I linked to in my earlier post about these models:

Thabk's Mike! I compared the user manuals, and indeed, the DB Gruen version 39197 has a control desk light function.
I find it unusual that two models identical in all but pint and road names of the same release year have different functions.

I have the Speisewagen from the TEE Helvetia with the kitchen fire LEDs and the one from the IC Tiziano, which has the same LED panel, but is not assigned as a function.

It is quite likely that the models are the same, but functions were assigned differently between the two models.

The OBB 1293 (39198) is due out in May. I did not see the panel lights listed as a feature on that model either.

I saw the panel light up on the youtube video of someone of the DB 39197. They both also have windshield wiper sounds, which aren't described in the brochure. Odd, since they don't move.

My understanding is that Marklin Switzerland (or whoever is responsible for determining what is marketed as Swiss models) would have input on features on models primarily destined for that market, so they may not have seen a lit console as a marketable feature, so not had it fitted to help hold costs (the cost may be the equivalent to a couple of paint colours on the livery).

As of last week at least, both had the same prices. Only the OBB model with two less pantographs is less.

I am waiting for my 39197 which is en route from southern Germany. My 39199 should be on it's way past me to Canada's West Coast and will be shipped back to me once it gets there.
These locomotives will most likely be hauling trains by themselves. The Roco equivalents will now be freed up for operation in MU.

I have one on the way as well. I bought it Wedneseday, and it shipped yesterday. I had reserved the 39199 last year stateside, and saw the 39197 in stock, so I called them and asked if I could exchange my item order. Another domestic shop, and one in Germany have already increased the price by at least $30 US Mike, so we got a good deal!

Reading the descriptions in the Märklin product database seems to give the answer.

39197 DB has control desk lighting.

39199 SBB has no control desk lighting (no mention of it). Instead the SBB one has "falschfahrsignal" (oncoming train light?).

Both have an extra (but different) light function compared to 39198 ÖBB.

I now have both the 39197 and 39199 in my hands. Very nice machines. As was stated, the SBB version does not have the lighted controls.
I have been trying to figure out if I can dim the intensity of that setting on the 39197, as it seems too bright for what I would expect dash controls to be at night.

I am still trying to figure out which light settings are applicable for the 39199 in Switzerland.

This model is far better than the earlier Hobby versions (LokRoll and Hollandpiercer). I hope that they revisit other liveries for the SBB 193s.

I double head it with the earlier MRCE version. The console lights are bright, but really only visible from the side wj=hile running, anf only if you look for them.
