I found this video on line:

A really cool Marklin layout in western Canada. Enjoy!

Mark, I been up to Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad 3 times while on holiday. They have added on and it is about double the size that you see in the video. Poul runs Maerklin digital, but has a few analog loks still left. He was showing me some of his vintage loks last summer, that he has not converted. If you get out to the west coast, the Canadian Okanagan is a wonderful area to visit. From Seattle, where I live, it is only a 6 hour drive.

I live about 8 hours north of Osoyoos. I have travelled through there many times and never knew it was there. It am hoping to travel back that way soon.

Cheers...

A link to a forum post I made back in 2006 after I made my way down to see Poul....

Strange coincidence Mark, I sent that exact link you posted to my father this afternoon in an attempt to lure him out to the Okanagan for a spring visit! Smile

Also, here is the Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad hompage.... http://www.osoyoosrailroad.com/

The layout has been expanded since my last visit (I'm overdue to go back). I'm planning a trip back soon to have a look at the expansion. I'll post pics here after I'm back. Cool

Beautiful part of Canada !

I also have visited Osoyoos during the Summer of 2005. They were in process of expanding the layout. I remember that the day we visited Osoyoos, a forest fire started just north at Oliver.

It looks like he is using the Faller car system

Mark, It is a Faller system on the newest side of the layout. Poul is also starting to add sound equipped loks to the layout.

Pierre, we have been up to the Okanagan 4 times in August and it seems like there is always a forest fire, near Oliver. My wife and I enjoy visiting all the wineries in the ares. (sorry off topic).

Has anyone ridden on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway, a few miles north, in Summerland? They are running some nicely restored steam loks.
